New Body-Colored Vents are now Optional on the 2017 Corvette

Body colored vents were on the "accessory list" starting with the introduction of the C7 in 2014. BUT, they were "on constraint" for all of 2014 and 2015. They were available for all of 2016. Aside from all the badmouthing here about how they look, I was probably one of the first 2016 purchasers to get "body colored vents" on my white C7. I've had the car to numerous car events and at first people know something is different but not sure what it is. And, to date, everyone that commented on the look, has said they like it better than the standard black vents, especially on the hood and rear deck. As an aside, I actually bought my car from MacMulkin, the OP, a year ago.

Your scenery is better than mine....
I've got the top up, so it's not obvious but the interior is red as well. When I was looking for deals, I found this one and wasn't sure I'd like it, but I tell ya, it's sharp! I suppose with the body moldings and the interior some might say it's too much of one color but this thing really pops!
I did order a set of gloss black wheels though.

I wonder to those who dislike them. What if it was the reverse. GM had them body color, then offered black? I bet a bunch of you would have the opposite opinion.
It would actually be a great mental exercise. Sometimes people like what they initially see and aren't capable of liking the change regardless of what it is.
I only like body color cause when I saw the cars unpainted (IVER at GM) they didn't look bad all one color. When I found out the vents were to be black I was like "WTF?!?" and made my displeasure known.

This is pretty close to what I would do. I like the rear vents and the ones next to the windows (brake cooling inlet) to be painted the same, but the hood, I would want black, and I like how you partially painted the side vent. That is a nice touch.

The hood vent , the rear spoiler and the rear upper fender scoop painted are beautiful.
I'm not sure about the front fender side cove and I definitely prefer the rear twilight assembly in black.
Is it possible or impossible to get that rear taillight assembly in black with the other pieces painted or is it just better to install black tail light grilles after taking delivery?
Thanks in advance and it's just my opinion...

I agree completely. When I told my vette friends that I was going to get body colored vents, most thought it was a bad idea. They changed their mind when they saw it in person.

I'm on the fence. I actually like it, but for me, I prefer the contrasting look. Things like this have to grow on me, like when the C6 came out with no flip up headlights, I hated it for years since I had C3's...same with the new tail lights on the C7's, but you slowly get used to it, and then actually begin to appreciate the difference. It would be so boring if they didn't offer all of these options to make it your own car. All of this stuff is just different icing on the same cake.

I'm referring to the grills on the vents.

I think the body colored vents give the car more "class" and less J C Whitney "boy racer' look.
Tom Peters just likes the "cheap' add on cladding look in his styling. Look what he did with the Aztec with all the crappy black cladding to appeal to the younger generation. When the public said "no way" to the crappy black cladding on the Aztec, GM painted the black cladding the body color to tone it down.
The Aztec's sister SUV, the Buick Rendezvous, sold much better, as it didn't have all the hideous black cladding.
