GM has changed the NPP's operation and the A8's shift pattern for 2017
I can't quite put my finger on what has changed but it seems to work much differently and I feel somewhat not as loud as my former 2015. I remember it being very loud on my 2015 and at a certain speed you could hear the sound difference in the cabin when the valves closed not so much on the 2017. The transition is much more subtle on the 2017 and just more quiet. I also have noticed the A8 is slow to upshift at times and I can hear the engine lugging at slower speeds that never happened on my 2015.

Thanks for the info. GM has been tweaking the A8 almost since introduced. I have a mid 2015 version. Experienced cold start 1st to 2nd hard shift for awhile that worked itself out and is performing OK now but feel like it is time bomb trans. Odd that some cars have trans issues and some don't. In the last couple years GM changes the re-fresh, stater and TC as well as total trans on 2015 and some 2016 Corvettes. They know there is a problem. Wish they would recall but what ever. I was thinking they would get the A8 right by 2017. Sounds improved but not perfect. Keep us posted on how yours performs.

hmmm, do you think your new A8 might still be in "learning mode" or whatever they call it? Just a thought. I know with time either I adapted or the A8 adapted , but either way it's pretty smooth now!

The learn mode never really ends, but when you first get the car, it's at its sloppiest. It will continue to adjust over time but it won't ever feel as sloppy as it does when you first start driving. There is a re-learn mode too. Check your owner's manual if you want to have it relearn your driving habits from scratch.

I came into this thread searching for some kind of facts...
I found none.

Boost,
One of the best reasons for being on this forum is to post a question, observation, or concern hoping that someone will see it and can provide factual information.
I think that's why the OP posted. Perhaps that factual information will emerge.

While i don't disagree with you, a good re-read of the thread title will perhaps put us on the same page.

Isn't NPP a waste on an automatic unless you use the paddles? Seems to me you hear very little exhaust sweetness tooling around leting the transmission hurry to upshitt through 8 gears?
IDK I've never drove an A8.....just asking.

No my 2015 was quite loud. The 2017 is loud on start up but not so much while driving in any of the sport modes.

There was a user on CF named Black&White (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...and-white.html). He claimed he had problems with his A8, and in order to get them resolved, declared that he was going to confront Tadge at this year's NCM Bash with "an army of lawyers."
He would routinely spam the forums with his threats and eventually got banned; but he seems to resurrect himself every couple of weeks under a new user name.
So the new CF meme is that whenever a new user with just a couple of posts declares that his C7 sucks, it might be Black&White

I agree about the NPP getting quiet after driving normal speeds in the A8. My 2013 GS was much louder all the time when I had the mild to wild open. Maybe, a mild to wild is the answer.but., sport mode is supposed to keep the baffles open.

The title looks like a statement of fact; not a question nor an observation.
