After a few days covered up I took my car out for a drive to the va. When it first started it was slow to shift to reverse then to drive. not to bad. then the down shift from 2nd to first was rough. again not to bad. but when driving in D the temp runs 190to200. but when I put it manual and use the paddle shift I let the RPM's go up a little maybe to 35 before shifting the temp goes up to 210 and thats not a lot of hard driving. so I put it back into D then the temp will go back down. All this is with the car not going more then 2 miles in town.

Are you asking a question? Higher RPMs will cause higher coolant temperatures. 210 isn't anything to worry about.

Other than the slow/hard shifting, I'd say to temps are normal. Might want to get the tranny looked at though if the car continues to have problems with the shifting.

How long do you let the engine 'idle' or warm up before putting it in gear when starting it up the first time after it has sat a few days?

My coolant temp runs right at 220 all the time unless it's really hot, then, it runs warmer at high rpms.
If you look at dash photos on this sub forum, most will show exactly the same, so in guessing it's normal.
