Default Courtesy transfer to Houston

Talked to the big forum dealers on a GS Order. Houston Dealerships haven't come close to what the forums dealers are offering.

From doing a search, Strickland Chevy in Pearland costs about $150 to courtesy transfer. Lonestar Chevy up 290 costs $300. Strickland is just a few miles from my house, whereas Lonestar is 50+ miles away. Norman Frede Chevy in Clear Lake flat out refused to do a courtesy transfer.

Who should I talk to at Strickland to find out what services will be performed prior to delivery? Paperwork, PDI.....etc.

The dealer that is doing the courtesy delivery is paid directly by GM to do the PDI on the car.

The fee that you pay the receiving dealer is for their time to handle the car from the time it is backed off the transporter at their dealership to the time you take delivery of it.

All the paperwork in purchasing the car is handled by the selling dealer, not the receiving dealer.

Whichever Courtesy Delivery dealership you choose insure they will not only completely inspect the car before they accept delivery but also make sure they will complete the Pre-Delivery Inspection Form and will give you a copy of it. In addition, some will also go through the cars key features in real time. Some even fill the car with gas but usually it's because they charge more than $300 for their service.

Link to the Pre-Delivery Inspection Form; https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...6-corvette.pdf

If you are interested I can send you (via email) a copy of my personal "Pre-Delivery Must Do's BEFORE paying for the car & courtesy delivery" checklist. It's in addition to the dealer checklist. Yes, I did not pay for the car before I personally inspected it. Once I completed my owner's inspection I wire transferred the money to MacMulkin Chevrolet they in turn Fed-X the ownership paperwork and temporary tags to me overnight.

Even if you already paid for the car you will find the checklist very useful. Send me a PM with your email address so I can send you the doc.

I would like to take a quick moment to thank you guys.

Frankly I get tired of all the crying, bitching, and moaning about these cars. Not just one thread, but multiple threads about the same old same. The 'horse' has been beaten, killed, buried, and been eaten by maggots on a couple of items.

This thread helps restore some of what these car forums should be all about. This thread is a classic example of a car forum where one member asks for help, and another member jumps in there with the help asked for.

By the way, I live in Pasadena which is close to Strickland and they're pretty good people. After Strickland, I would suggest Classic Chevy in Sugarland. They move a lot more Vettes than Strickland, if that matters to you. By the way, talk to the General Manager versus some salesman, as some salesmen don't even know what a courtesy delivery is.

Mr Campbell, This is Paul Enriquez with CalAtlantic Homes. I was the sales person you met in Magnolia Creek a few weeks ago. Again, I appreciate the ride in your beautiful z06.

I suspect that sooner than later, I'll have a GS parked in front of my model for nice weekends.

How ironic is this? My wife and I will be there later today.

Not surprising about Houston dealers as I found out years ago. $150 to handle a courtesy delivery is very reasonable and is unusually $250 and more. The fee is really more of a bribe than anything else as GM directly pays the delivering dealer the PDI costs. Strickland will collect State of Texas sales tax and other statutory charges and fees (TT&L) and will file to get your title and plates as if they sold the car to you.

^^^^ YES. Courtesy Delivery is an additional charge for the Chev. Dealer that just handles turning the car oven to you locally.

Shipping is $995.00 IIRC on all C7s, anywhere in the contiguous U.S.

When you are doing a courtesy delivery, the car is shipped directly from Bowling Green, KY to the receiving dealer(say in Texas) not the ordering/selling dealer(say in New jersey), so the destination charge of $995 is only paid once.

Then the receiving dealer(say in Texas) is paid the $150-$500 fee to handle the car once it's shipped from Bowling Green until the customer(say in Texas) picks up the car.

The purchaser(say in Texas) pays the seller(say in New Jersey) the agreed price of the car that automatically has the $995 destination charge included into the agreed price.

If you buy your car at a local dealer and pick it up at that same dealer, you are going to pay the $995 destination charge for shipping the car from Bowling Green to you local dealer.
