That wont be the decisive factor, however I dont buy $50k+ cars everyday , I want to make the best decision possible, as I said I LOVE both cars, and both are at a similar price, both are good looking cars, both are 2 seats, both have big engines and both are fun to drive, so I think they can be comparable in some aspects... (before anyone jumps on me.. I know the cars also have big differences ); My decision will come out of these 2 .. 2013 sl550 or a C7z51 14-15-16 which one will you get and why? , any opinion is good so keepem coming, thank you all!

If I was a big guy, not too limber, looking for a classy comfortable ride, I'd go with the MB. It's going to be a lot easier to get in and out of, and be an all around more comfortable car.
If you want looks and performance, don't mind a little exercise in contortion getting in and out of your car. Don't mind feeling every bump in the road, in exchange for flat cornering. Want to have the ability to take your passengers breath away, the Vette would be my choice.

I asked my boss a similar question years ago and he said the Mercedes was an older man's choice and I could always choose to purchase that when I was ready to have some performance in my luxury car. That was good advice for me at the time. Now I am 65 and I still got a C7 when I could have bought anything out there. No buyer's remorse has occurred to date. Gave a friend a ride last night and he said he felt like he was in the batmobile. Isn't it nice to have this kind of dilemma in our life instead of where our next meal is coming from?

If you are not a diy your self type person ( oil change, etc. ) the maintenance on the MB can be costly. The Corvette is way cheaper to maintain, my friend just bought a new MB and bought the extended service package which saved him a grand or so over 3 years worth of service to the MB, it cost $6,000. 2 Grand a year for maintaining the car is crazy, this does not include tires.
I looked at a used MB AMG while shopping for my C7 and, although it was nice I could not justify the cost of owership, same for Porsche.
What is nice about the 2 car is that they are different beasts, both attractive and powerful, the Corvette is a better handling machine and the MB offsets that by being a classier boulevard cruiser. Corvette for twisties and MB for leisure driving.
BTW, my C7 cost me no out of pocket monies for the first 27,500 miles...I doubt that would be the case for the SL550.

Mercedes Benz, perception wise or fact just a bit better in most areas than a Chevy Corvette.
Tough choice myself I like the looks, and raw performance of the Corvette. On the other hand the MB has a touch of class to go with the looks and no slouch in the performance department.
Both have similar owner demographics, so my choice would be the Mercedes. Looks, performance, class, quality.

I have owned several German cars (BMW and MB). They have a half life of about 3 years, meaning their value decreases by half every three years until they reach bottom. If you are looking for a vehicle that keeps it value buy a diesel pick up. I bought a new F250 in 2008 with a sticker of $53,000. I paid around $48k. I traded it in earlier this year and got $28K trade in value. 8 years of driving it and it was still worth more than half of its value new. My 2000 MB E320 was $50k new, its worth $4000 now. A 2000 SL500 that cost $80,000 new now sells for around what a 2000 Corvette sells for. But the Corvette new in 2000 was around $45k. Take a look at eBay and you can see this is true for any year. Bottom line: the Corvette will keep its value better.

I just took a 2001 M B 500 vert as a trade in at my dealership, one owner, pretty nice car 92K miles on it. We gave 5k for it, does that answer you question!!! They bomb in value when the warranty is gone and as the years pass. A 2001 C5 vette that cost a lot less new in the same condition and miles is worth 3 times as much right now!!!

The M-B is not good value at all, it's a nice coupe to be sure, but unless you have a thing for the brands, I'd take the 'vette all day, everyday, and twice on Sunday.

my mind says get the benz my heart says shut up and get the c7, I think the benz its more classic yet sportly, but the c7 is maybe more sportly and agressive looking (which I love), im not superfan of the stock taillights, adding this will help on that matter ( http://www.gscreations.com/c7-corvette-rear-tail-light-blackout-lens-kit-smoked-covers/ ) . Thanks all for ur opinions, im reading them all ! this car will be a lot for me..a gift to myself that I think I deserve... I usually dont change cars often, always buy them cash ( dont like debts) so I really want to make the best decision for me , not regret it after 2 years of ownership

Ive been thinking in changing my car a lot just never found the need to , (I love my FJ) , never took it as a priority , always thought spending more than 35k in a car was something extravagant, now I think its time to reward myself and keep motivating me to hopefully bring more joys in the future. We are all here to enjoy this life.

From a depreciation and maintenance standpoint, MB builds some of the worst cars on the planet.
They also build some of the sexiest cars as well.
So, if financially you can afford to drive that MB into a ditch and set it on fire without being pinched too hard $$ wise, then get the MB. If not, get a new C7.

Why? I've owned and driven MB S-Class, and E-Class turbodiesel sedans both new and used for 25 consecutive years as my DDs. I have owned and bought one new Corvette C3, 40 years ago. The Corvette then and now has my complete interest and captivation. I am presently in the hunt for a C7. I have little interest in any MB SL.
The C7 Z51; "will hold it's value better."
