5600 miles on mine and so far no problems.
I liked the A6 when I had the 09 but the A8 in this 2016 is a beast in comparison.
Very intuitive in auto mode and knows exactly when to shift up or down according to speed and RPM with throttle input.
Took a little getting used to how it responded and how smooth or quick it shifted compared to the A6.
Especially using the paddles.
The A6 had longer gears and was smooth using the paddles in the lower 2000 RPM range around town etc.
The A8 is good under the same conditions using the paddles, but works a lot better in the 3000 + RPM range.
I prefer auto mode to pass or just accelerate since it does exactly what it needs to dependent on throttle input.
Has no problem as the pedal is pressed selecting the right gear when it downshifts.
WOT is amazing hearing the clutches bang with each shift and triple digits show up real quick

About 6K miles on my 2015 Z51 A8 now. This is the first sports car I've owned with an automatic transmission. I'd say it works pretty flawlessy. Normally I'm Sport or Tour, occasionally in Eco and the tranny seems very smooth. I've yet to really take it out and bang it around with the paddles. Maybe on my next trip up to Nevada-not a good idea around here...

Build date 8/15. The new Trans is coming along good. Its in learn mode and I'm getting much better shifts and no shudder while cruising down the highway. They also changed my 3 piece rotors for the new rotors and put on new brakes. all I need now is a Z06 turbo and Ill have a brand new car. LoL

I finally had a decent opportunity to do a little 'spirited' driving in the C7 today. Mine is a 16 Z51 A8. I have been making myself sick reading some of the negative threads on this site, and bemoaning the fact that it is not a DCT.
Ridiculous! On a nice loop north out of Los Angeles, up the 5, out Lake Hughes Road to Pine Canyon / Elizabeth Lake Rd T junction to Ridge Rte Rd to Lancaster Rd and back, I had a blast! Shifts were crisp, and perfectly fast, whether I was in manual or auto. No problems at all. I could not have asked for more, and I am a happy camper!!
For me, it was a no-brainer. I have rotator cuff issues that make shifting with my right hand a painful process, and I have enjoyed paddle shifting in other cars, so I was going to go A8 all the way. If you are on the fence, my advice is don't over analyze it. My experience, anyway. Only 1500 miles or so, but so far, so good.
Have fun! Drive safe!

Yup, I'm also very happy with the A8
Yes, I am also very happy with the A8 - I think it shifts wonderfully!

It's that whole radio to his buddies part that doesn't work out so well most of the time.

Mine definitely has a change in character depending on how I drive it, and it has learned my driving style well. I like it!
Definitely not you grandmas automatic transmission.

2015 Z-51 with A8 Issues
My 2015 is in the shop now, they are replacing the torque convertor, I believe that's all, from what I was told. I got mine with 6K miles on it and started hard shifts around 8K. Also slamming hard into second on easy takeoffs at times. It has 16K now after a couple long road trips. Yes, I'm still happy with the A8 overall, great performer.
