Predictable response from a Z owner trying to justify their purchase.
OP. What is your intended use for the car. Track? Or just bragging rights that you bought a Z?

I could have had either, I chose the GS... IMPO better track car, if you do that sort of thing, less heat issues. If you want a fast street car the Z06.. However, I was driving today with a few Z06 cars and they only had me above 150 ( I was in Mexico)....we were on a controlled road with police awareness...

I agree with TorchSport. It really depends on what you are wanting out of the car.
If you are Talking '17 Grand Sport VS '17 Z06, I would go Grand Sport. I love the Z06 and I personally don't think you can ever have too much power. lol. However, for the difference in price(about $14k for equally equipped cars), you can easily add a Procharger, E-Force, A&A, etc, supercharger and get more power than a Z06. It will also be significantly less expensive going that route. The bad part about doing that is you void the factory warranty. For me, the GS is perfect. I can always add more power later and for the $14,000 difference in price, I can add a hell of a lot of stuff to my GS in the performance category giving it a significant increase in power over the Z06.
You won't be disappointed either way. Just figure out exactly what you want to use the car for. I considered both and drove both to see which one was the better fit for what I was wanting.

Why buy something thats a track version of a base stingray and not track it?
-Typical response of guy who can't afford a Z06 lol
If your making the track use go Z06 and not go GS just go base stingray...
Just saying Z06 is the ultimate corvette why go cheap?

The GS is awesome. Depends on what your looking for. The Z06 is worth it if you want the extra power for the fun of having it, but you don't really need it.

I doubt my car will ever see the track and it won't be my everyday vehicle. Yes, the Z06 would be for bragging rights but I'm also sure I would be happy with the GS. With the GS, I know sooner or later I'll want to add power.
I see a lot of guys adding superchargers to stock LT1 motors. Everyone states the reliability is great, but I wonder about the longevity. In other words, if I add a supercharger I don't want to worry that the motor will come apart later on down the road. And I mean much later LOl…..

I honestly don't know if the ZO6 is too much power for me, since I've never driven one. But if I were wanting one or the other, I'd roll with the ZO6. Yes, I feel it's worth $$$ it, too!

Hmm, money is not my issue, prefer a normally aspirated engine, don't need the extra power that I would only use occasionally.
Felt the tire width was a bit anemic when I got my 2014 Z51- same tire width as my Z51 C6. Granted it is parked in the garage next in my ProStreet Rod with its 8.2 liter BB and 420 section width Mickey Thomsons!
The GS has everything I want. Will soon sell the 2014 and get one while I can still order a standard shift!
