Battery Protection Package

All that's included is a CTEK-manufacturered battery maintainer (trickle charger), with a retail value of about $50, if you buy it yourself on Amazon. GM charges 2X for the option.
The purpose is to keep your battery fully-charged if you're not regularly driving the car. Batteries that don't deeply discharge last significantly longer.

It's really for storing in the winter, if you drive infrequently or only short distances where the battery doesn't get charged. The C7 unlike some prior Vettes shuts off all power in ~10 minutes even if you leave a light on.
The Service Manual indicates the battery will stay charged for ~30 days. Many have said it starts right up after about that time. In three years I have been on vacation several times for 2 1/2 weeks with no issues. Some like to use it anyway!
Here is some info abstracted from the Service Manual:
If fully charged car should start after 30 to 35 days

While the car may start for at least 30 days w/o being driven. Batteries kept topped off generally last longer.

Winter storage
I bought the battery protection package and I'm putting my car into storage. How are people routing the cord? A friend routes his through the door and closes the door. This seems like a fire hazard if it shorts the cord. Are you leaving the rear hatch open slightly, so the dome light stays off or is routing through the door a viable option? I store in a storage facility and not in my own garage where I can check it daily or weekly.

Plug into the rear hatch port. You can close the hatch and the cord will not be damaged

I use my battery tender hard wired for the convenience of mindless quick connect vs the way ersatz928 has it in above quote. I have traffic through the garage in the daily (wife two kids and friends pass by whIle using the walk through exterior door to house. best thing I ever did and worst!) and it scares me.
I like the fact nobody can walk past my car and knock the lead off by accident and possibly short something out. in my car if that were to happen the quick disconnect would do just that and save the day.
here's my hookups with factory battery tender connections Negative at oil fill, positive to fuse box nut and quick connect to right

Yes, there are many ways to connect it, but it so much easier to plug it into the 12v port in the trunk, which is why it was put there.

Some object to closing the hatch on the wire. However no one has ever reported any damage to the seal from having the hatch lid closed on the wire.

EDIT: the garage's outlet safety thing was on, turned it off and it's working. thanks guys
It worked on the C7 but didn't work on my ford focus, I thought it works on all cars? tried both 12v socket and neither work. and just to be sure I got this one https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-gm-us3300.jpg
So it doesn't have clamps for the battery, but I thought it will work on all cars since it's exactly like CTEK 3300? the car icon on the charger did light up when I plugged into car's 12v socket, but no other lights lite up when I plugged it into the electricity outlet. So it it vette only or is there a way to make it or on other cars? thanks for the help

C7 can be started after a month of not driving it, but when is like the latest that you can charge it and it's still fine? 1.5 months? 2 months?
but to keep the battery's longevity for as long as possible, I guess plug it in a week or 2 after not driving it. how do you guys do it?

Keep my '14 C7 on a tender always when not being driven. It will be 4 years this coming November. Did the same for my '05 C6 for 6 1/2 years as well before selling it. Original OEM batteries for both.
