Default Problems after recall

I took the 2015 in for an oil change and the latest re-call notice. The did use Mobil 1, they did fill it properly and they completed the re-call.

Now, the car makes a dinging noise every 30 seconds or so, four dings, and.....it says that the roof is not secure. Trying to cycle the roof results in a message that says that it has to operated manually. The dings are not associated with the roof issue. That just displays on the drive information panel.

The dealer does not what to do. Anybody else with these issues?

i dont have the issues you describe however i did the same thing (took car in for oil change and they did the recall) and the only thing i noticed is that my HUD has the same default display on all drive settings. I can manually change it but i remember before the recall each driving mode had its own HUD display. No big deal. Good luck to you OP>

After I had the recall last week, I had a similar issue.

I couldn't get in the trunk to put away the jacking inserts (using the button on the rear). The top was down just like I gave it to them. My first thought was that the windows needed re-indexed, so I started the car and did that. Still would not allow the trunk to be opened, and I then noticed the msg on the DIC that the top was not secure. I pushed down on the top cycle button, and the msg immediately cleared and I was able to open the trunk.

I assumed the tech had pressed briefly on the button, just enough to make the car think the top was not secure.

Did you re-index the windows?

Sounds like what happens when you unhook the batt.

Push the up button on your top even though it is already up. Windows will go down and it will beep like it does when done. Should be happy after that.

I had the recall done last Friday. I drove in w/ the top down, and they brought the car back with the top down. When I was leaving I got a top not secured message. I hit the top down button and immediately got the top secured message accompanied by the beep. All was well after that and all settings were the same.

I've operated the top, windows and all other systems in the car since multiple times, and everything works the same as when I took it in.

The mechanics at the dealers are morons. I brought my car in for the top squeak. It was not only a warranty issue but I believe actually a recall. I got it back, still squeaks. Even though they say the replaced the top hardware.

They suck. I will fix the squeak myself.

David,

That's quite a broad-sweeping generalization. Like every other occupation, there are highly competent auto techs, and of course, plenty of less experienced ones.

I've had the pleasure of having my many cars serviced and repaired over the years by a number of highly competent technicians. Of course, like you, I've had some bad experiences as well, but not w/ my Corvettes. My worst experiences were w/ BMW and Audi dealers.

I have had good experiences w/ my 3 Corvettes and have always been able to find highly competent, Corvette-certified technicians to service my cars. You have to do a little "politicking," at a dealership, make friends, and treat them respectfully.

The "Top not secure" message seems to be a recurring theme at this point. This would indicate that there is something in the programming process that makes the car think that the top is mid-cycle, not that there is something the techs are doing.

Conceivabley, Foosh and I could have taken our cars to the same dealer (I have no idea who he uses), but not the others who have reported the exact same issue.

I'm still curious if SCOTSTERN has tried re-indexing his windows and then cycling the top, yet, because the top won't cycle if the windows need it, which would explain the message to operate manually.

My 2014 vert went in this morning for the airbag re-program.
Got it back with the dings and Top Not Secure warning. The seat memory was also messed up, both the auto recall on ignition and the auto exit. Cycled the top (was up, put it down then back up) and reset the seat memory functions. All is well now.

Got the airbag recall letter yesterday. Depending on timing and weather, it might wait until spring.

That's not a bad idea. My general MO is to wait 6 months after a recall is announced to give dealer service departments a chance to gain some experience w/ the corrective action(s).

In this case, I was due for an oil change, so decided to take a chance, which worked out fine in my case.

Same here. Although this thread has me concerned now. No renegade dings yet, though.

I got the recall notice today. I have a 2017 on order and don't plan to accomplish the recall, no need the dealer can do it after the trade in.

I had my oil changed and airbag recall software update. Now my dash speedometer/tach will not change. Hud will change manually but not dash. It stays the same regardless of the mode I am in. Any suggestions?

Your setting became unlinked from driving mode. Go into your DIC settings via the right-hand steering buttons, and unlink it

>settings>display mode>link to drive mode.
