Anyone wish the C7 came with an LS motor
I love my c7. It's an amazing vehicle. Very capable and a blast to drive. I don't have much to complain about. Chevy built a great car. Everything that sucked about the c6 Chevy adressed and remedied with the c7. The one thing that didn't need fixing however was the powerplant. Now keep in mind I'm no mechanic or engineer. I couldn't tell you how anything in the car works to save my life. All I can describe is what I feel. After owning a C5 with an ls1 a C6 with an ls2 and a Cadillac cts-v with the lsa I feel as if the lt1 isn't as aggressive or tough as the LS series. It's got great power and the car is super fast, but I feel as if the power comes on higher in the power band than the LS2-3. I always loved the beefiness of the LS. Just felt very very tough for lack of a better word. With the Lt I feel myself staying in a lower gear for a longer period of time and keeping the revs above 2k to have the power I want when I want it. On the highway I barely touch 6th gear until I'm doing around 70-75. So does anyone agree? Would you have preferred an upgraded LS motor let's just call it an LS-4 with the same power as the lt1, or are you happy with the engine change? For all of you who haven't owned or spent significant time with the LS motor don't get your panties in a bunch cause you just won't get my point unless you have.

I think you might be alone on this one. I went from a 2011 to 2014 and never once wished for the old engine. I'd bet there are comparison graphs of the HP and torque of the two, and it would be interesting to look at them. Since they implemented variable valve timing and direct injection in the LT1, I doubt the old engine had any noticeable advantage at any RPM.

Personally, I'm not thrilled with the added complexity of VVT, AFM, etc -- they add more complexity than HP, IMHO.
However, the reality is that engines will need to get more and more complex as manufacturers struggle for every 1/10th of an MPG to meet ever-increasing CAFE requirements.
GM did what it *had* to do to keep the V8 alive and viable. Better a complex V8 than a v6.

Not at all, the LT1 is superior to the LS3 (and previous) in terms of power output across the RPM band.
There is no reason for you to be staying in 5th gear until 70mph. The owner's manual suggests 7th gear can be engaged at 45mph for best fuel economy. Although I think that is a little on the slow side for normal driving, I would say I'm generally into 7th around 60-65 on the highway.

Not me, the LT feels and performs a lot better that the LS3 in my 2008.

Agree with what? The LT1 has a lot more grunt than the LS1, 2, or 3.

I might know why you feel that way, it is probably the throttle sensitivity in E,T and S modes... when you go to Track mode, the motor really seems to wake up.
I do however believe that the LS was a smoother engine. there seems to be some NVH in the M7 Lt1 powertrain that is midly annoying.

Why, unsubstantiated fears of carbon buildup on the valves? There have been people who have posted here with 50k or more miles on a C7 and no problems. Most C7 owners won't put that many miles on in 20 years or more.

I push the start button and the LT1 engine comes alive with a load note. It is reliable and puts out more power than you can normally put on the ground, under most weather conditions. I really don't care about anything else.

Weight/electronic control
Hi buddy,
the C7 is a bit heavier than the C6.
There are less vibrations and, sound deadening is better at speed.
Plus, the electronic stability in eco/tour/sport mode are quite restrictive in terms of instant torque. Especially with the auto trans.
Try a stick shift in Track mode, let your grand ma out of the car, and you'll never think about the LS3 again

These new engines are just more prone to problems. The direct injection will be more expensive to repair or replace, and doesn't clean the valves. the LS3 WILL keep its power longer than the LT1.
The AFM lifters have reported more failures vs non AFM lifters. The VVT system will probably be somewhat reliable, but harder to work on.
Ya its a great engine for those guys who just toy the car around for a few years then get the next corvette (like i am doing).

Like I assumed most of you aren't getting the point or the question.... I'm talking more about the feel of the motor not actual performance. Instead of getting defensive why dont some of you try reading my post start to finish. I asked you to imagine an upgraded LS motor with the same HP and TQ numbers as the lt1... If you had the choice of a newer upgraded LS motor with the same power and torque of the LT engine which would your prefer? If your going to post a comment to a thread at least read it first! I wasn't knocking the LT more praising the feel of the LS.
