Default I took a Bentley rep for the test drive of his life

Hey guys. I really enjoy this forum. I think this post will turn out to sound like a bunch of jumbled thoughts. I am kinda just thinking out loud.

Holy crap... does anyone drive a zo7 equipped car on the street? Why?

I'm driving home past a Mazaratti/ Bently/ Aston on the way home and I see two c7's on their lot. I tell the guy I am interested in upgrading my z51 to a zo6. He immediately got me the keys, 506 miles on the clock, no problem. Good luck doing that at a Chevy dealership. He said we would get on this onramp and drive to Lafayette and back. I knew the exit he was planning on using to turn around very very well.

So on the freeway onramp I short shift 2nd a little but execute a no-lift 2 to 3 shift. The center display was on the tire pressures, but I happen to see in the HUD we got over 80mph. He immediately grabbed both handles. His hands went back to those handles while I was bending the freeway off ramp and then on ramp combo. HUD said I pulled over a G. When I was back on the freeway I drove 65 back to the dealership.

So here are the questions z07 owners. Those brakes, shaving speed for the off ramp was the only real test of the brakes. They were grabbey as hell and caused me to overslow by 10 mph or so. We're they just not warm? Are they easier to modulate after some practice? I mean, I almost slammed the salesmans face into the dash. Then bending the off ramp, I was going as fast as I would be ***** out in my z51. There was no tire squeal or anything. The zo6 could have taken more... But I couldn't. We were rounding the corners so fast, if there were a road hazard in the way, no way I would be able to adjust. I had never really been limited by sight before, it is a strange feeling.

Isn't this getting to be a bit much for the street? My zo6 or gs will not have the z07 package.

Yes, a Z06 is too much car to enjoy its limits on the street. This is why many of us do HPDEs.

Is your car JUST for hpde? Don't get me wrong, running on a road course is fun. I do it as often as I can. It just seems like a z07 equipped car (gs or zo6) has no place on the road.

Sounds like you were the customer from hell, lol. I'll bet the salesman soiled himself.

Ever wonder why dealerships are hesitant to let people take performance cars for a test drive?

But to answer your question, people do use Z07 cars on the street since they don't always drive them like they are at the track. They can be quite docile too.

I have the Z07 package on my Z06 and the brakes are phenomenal, might be the best road car brakes on any car I have driven. I do not have trouble with modulated them at all, as a matter of fact they cause the opposite issue for me, when I get in one of my other cars I end up panic braking when I first start driving as the brakes are not nearly as good as the Vette's are.

Regarding performance, this car definitely has more performance than I have skill (at least right now) and I would not come close to wringing this car out on the street.

I'm getting a visual of the car salesman Arnold took for a test drive in a Corvette in True Lies.
