Default Got my airbag recall letter today

Got the official letter today. Now I'll have to see the local Chevy dealer whom I did not buy the Vette from. Guess I get to see how 'friendly' they are.

Getting mine done tomorrow. Had my 500 mile oil change done at the same dealer, but bought it at kerbeck. They treated me just fine. Most dealers realize that you make more money on clients in service than you do on the sale of the vehicle. Gross profit on labor is around 78% while avg profit on a new vehicle sale is usually around 4%.
I know this because I manage a Mercedes Benz dealership.

No problem. Bought mine from one dealer, had it updated at another.

You can go to the dealer of your choice.

I've not received mine... But I wont get it done due to just the hassle of taking it into the dealer.
Roll the dice on whether air bags works or not.
Plus I don't plan on having an accident.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who planned to have an accident.

Not planning to take ours back since we trade it in very shortly once our GS arrives, and we will let the dealer take care of what additional repairs need to be done.
Recall letter is very confusing.

I think that's just "boiler-plate" language that appears on all recall notices. Don't worry about it. That true of any given vehicle on any given day.

Dealer servicing your car shouldn't matter. They get paid by GM to do the recall so they should be happy to see you come in.

I got my letter yesterday, it said that repairs could take from 1/2 hour to 2 hours. Anyone that got the repair done how long did the dealer have your car? The reason I ask is I have to drop the car and wait as I live about 40 miles from the dealer. I doubt they will give you a loner car for a recall .(I'm assuming the parts are available to do it, if not it will be done in April next year!)

I was going to take it in for its free oil change and then its gone for the winter (as usual) but had to postpone as we are supposed to get 3-6'' of snow tonight. Normally my car is gone for the winter by now but do to circumstances could not do it earlier.

^^^The dealer told me that it'll take about 3 hours, but they had me out of there in a little over 1.

I had the airbag recall done last week, and I was in and out in an hour, which included an oil change.

Yep, one takes chances this time of year when it turns colder. Last year was a one-off with driving thru and including Xmas Day around here!
Had the recall done with oil change and NYS inspection, in and out in 2 hours last week with appt. It DID mess with my seat & HUD settings, easily corrected.
Stay safe.

The reason they say up to 2 hours is sometimes they have a problem updating.
But it's not the norm.
Brought mine in for Inspection Sticker, Air Bag Recall and Seat fans remote start TSB.
Was out of there in less than 1 hour
