Default HP increase 2018?

I know no one can say for sure whether there will be a horsepower increase in 2018 but what do you think the chances are. I am looking at a grand sport now but have made the mistake of buying a model before and the next year they increased the hp and it just is a feeling I'd rather not do again. I know most will say there will always be something greater the next year but I'd rather wait and get a 2018 if there is a chance of it being upgraded.

If a HP increase is important to you than you better wait for the 2018.

What if '19 offered more than '18, of whatever you like?
Do something today or you'll do nothing tomorrow.

The current Vette is amazing, they worked out the kinks of the first year model. I would buy now enjoy this one, wait until the C8 comes out then wait another year for them to fix any issues with it being new. After that if its still something you want trade in the C7 for the C8. In the mean time you will have an awesome car. Who knows you may find that a Vette is not for you at all or you may fall in love with them!

But now and enjoy the car, or wait on the hope that they do bump the HP a bit. I'd rather have the car now - JMO.

Buy now while dealers are dealing. Trade later if the newer models are more desirable.

If horsepower is important to you, why are you considering a GS?

I'd consider a Z06 but I can get a Gs 1lt out the door for 60k w discounts. I'd love a z06 but can't justify the extra 15k at this point in my life.

As was said, if HP is important to you, waiting until 2018s are announced might be a good idea. Keep in mind, you're not talking about waiting until this time next year. The 2018s will be announced in April 2017. At that time any HP increase will be known. If there is none, you can buy a '17 at that time. Of course you may not be able to order one because MY 2017 will be winding down but you can buy from dealer inventory.
If you want to order one, you might as well order it now than pay for any increase to be retrofitted.

We know an engine change is coming. It may not be 18, but if it is, will you want the first year of a new motor?

For about 4K you can get 525 bolt on HP on the current LT1 and have more fun than should be allowed by law. This would be your starting point, oops Photo Bucket is down for maintenance... Your neighbors will also love you (ask me how I know)

Perhaps but current HP is plenty enough for 95% of the folks that buy Corvettes and use them exclusively on the street. Personally I would rather see some additional features like power fold away mirrors, turn signals on the mirrors, rear fog light, etc. Chevy would do well to make the current cars more track capable. Just MHO.

quite honestly, i cannot utilize 460 hp on any public street right now... the only thing that would make it feel any faster is more low end torque.
However, for the GS/Z07 "track" car at 535 hp or even 500hp would work.

Maybe the new for 2018 GS motor will be called the LT3?

http://www.chevrolet.com/performance...lt376-535.html

Yes, the 2018's will probably have a nicer paint job and maybe an LT3 motor for the Grand Sport that puts out 535HP. But I'd guess you won't be able to get one at the discounts you can get a 2017 GS for now.

Plus, this LT376 has a nearly identical torque curve to the LT1, so I'm not sure the additional HP matters all that much.

I know what you're saying though. I thought about waiting until 2018 for the very same reason. But then again, I skipped 2016 and waited until 2017, hoping there would be a model like the GS, and luckily there was. Sure, I was hoping it would have over 500HP, but life is too short to keep waiting! At some point, you have to pull the damn trigger!

So, go for it now and you won't be sorry.

Or, wait until 2018 and then decide if you want to wait until 2019... 2020, etc. My $0.02 is you can go crazy waiting. They don't come up with expressions like "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" for no reason at all.
