Default 16009 Recall Fuel Tank Check Valve fuel leak.

Has anyone brought their car back for the check valve fuel leak? Has anyone had to have the drivers side tank replaced because of it? How long did it take and what's involved in doing it?

GM usually lists the estimated time for the repair on the recall. Have you already received the notice?

I am thinking that the rear suspension has to be dropped to get the the fuel tanks out. The recall notice I got about the anti-siphon grid falling down into the tank said it was a 12 hour job to remove the tank.

Yesterday I received a letter from Chevrolet saying that my VIN is subject to the possibility of this fuel odor/leak. Its a 2015 coupe. I have smelled the fuel odor in my garage in the past, however when I ran by the dealer today they couldn't smell any thing or see any fuels drips, therefore they couldn't do anything. The letter did extend the warranty , however.

A month ago the dealer replaced the fuel filler pipe, but not a tank. I've smelled fuel odor since then, but not as strongly as before the replacement. If anyone responds that they had the fuel tank replaced, could you also say if fuel was found to be leaking from some where in the dual tank assembly.
If anyone

16009 is a special coverage. 5 yr / 60,000 ml. Not a recall.
But if you did have it done. It pays the tech 12.2 plus .4 for drain and fill.
I'm kinda hoping mine starts leaking , then I can get paid to replace my clutch. Lol

My friend had to have his fuel sending unit replaced on second day. Had to drop the drivers side tank, pretty big job, removed rear bumper and exhaust.

This is the mailing I got.....

"Info: Oct. 27th, 2016 received mail advice ("OWNER NOTICE" from GM Canada) called "*Special Coverage Program 16009*".

GM letter is basically making 'awareness' that some 2014 Corvettes may have a condition where a fuel odour is detected, fuel droplets appear below the left-hand fuel tank (driver side) with fuel gauge level above 1/2, or a malfunction indicator lamp illuminates due to a leak path in the driver side fuel tank at the Inlet Check Valve (ICV) to fuel tank shell interface".

Goes on to state ...."Do not take your vehicle to your GM dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe your vehicle has the condition as described above".

More details written....
