Sad day
I got the rear end of my stingray smoked by a pickup truck backing out of his parking spot at QT today. Just about took the rear end off. Sorry no pics, couldn't bring myself to looking at it much yet.
I'm sure it can be fixed, I'm concerned about the diminished valve because it's going to show up in Carfax. Can I claim that loss with his insurance company? I tend to trade in cars once a year and don't feel like I should take the loss on that because of someone carelessness.

First, I'm guessing you're okay? I sure hope everyone is okay!
Second, I'm sorry the Stingray isn't okay.
To answer your question, you should definitely demand diminished value compensation from the insured's insurance company.
I'm sorry this happened to you.

Yes you can file. Different rules in different states. I was successful last year on an Audi that was sideswiped. Car was only 2 weeks old.

In my experience, deal the the other insurance company directly, especially if this is clearly the other driver's fault.
You should tell your ins. carrier, but don't file a claim through them if you don't have to. They won't fight as hard as you will, and you will give up too much control.
I speak as someone who has had six collisions due to others' bad decisions.

I hope things work out for you . I had the same problem a few years back
and the other persons ins. co. stepped up and made things right. I wish the
same for you.

I had the same issue a few years back with our daily driver. My wife was rear ended in her one year old Lexus. The other driver was ticketed for following too close. His insurance was through the lizard. I called them directly and talked to one of their agents. They were very polite and we settled on a dollar value on the phone. Had a check in less than a week. Good luck and be firm with them.

That sucks. Good luck with the insurance company. I agree with Lisa, if you can, deal with the guys insurance company directly if you can.
