Default GM Letter - Fuel Odor

I got a letter from GM today indicating some 2014 model Corvettes may have a condition where a fuel odor is detected, fuel droplets appear below the left-hand fuel tank (driver side) with fuel gauge level about 1/2, or a malfunction indicator lamp illuminates due to a leak path in the left hand (driver side) fuel tank at the Inlet Check Valve (ICV) to fuel tank shell interface.

If this condition occurs on the Corvette within 5 years the vehicle was placed into service or 60,000 miles (whichever occurs first), the condition will be repaired at no charge. GM will reimburse those who have had the repairs done prior to notification (I assume it will be based on the terms above).

The letter indicates the vehicle is not to be taken to the dealership unless the vehicle has the condition described above, so it is not a recall.

It's funny how GM writes these letters. They make it sound like they are doing you a favor.

Anyway, FYI...

John

Got the same letter on Friday....haven't noticed this problem, though a few years ago I had a new Camaro that leaked fuel like a sieve. That a hassle that was.

Yea... My 2009 C6 had the fuel odor issue. They had to drop the tank and replace the fuel pump.

My 2016 had the fuel odor issue. Had to replace the fuel sending module. Lots of disassembly to perform the job. Dealer did a great job.
