Hell, I like everything about it....I can't wait to see the front end with the new air intakes. The hood looks great-I even like the rear wing.
It will be interesting to see what the engine and horsepower is.

Never understood why a functional rear wing that provides down-force at speed, helps keep the rear planted, assist with grip in high speed cornering and is specifically designed for a high horsepower vehicle is called "rice". Really boggles my mind.

This Corvette is built for 1 thing, to best the ACR. It won't be inexpensive.

Certainly not an economic one...the Viper is a dead car.
After their financial crisis, GM is suppose to be all about making $$$, not measuring penises with a ghost.

The ACR has a "legacy" that's alive and well. GM/Chevy are very competitive.

I could be way off base here but IMO the best move they could make to keep any HP that is considerably more than the Z06 under control would be to go all-wheel drive like the GT-R.
Possibility? If it's only 50hp-60hp more than the Z06 what's the point? And if it's a lot more HP than the Z06 than power to the ground will be difficult in the traditional front engine rear drive configuration. Just my 2 cents on the direction that I think a ZR-1 should be headed. Bring out the mid-engine Zora at some point and leave the Base, GS, Z06 and ZR-1 and Chevy has an entire line of high performance cars for everyone. Maybe GM makes Corvette it's own brand as some have suggested.

Sure will be nice when all the secrecy and spy photos become reality. Have to hand it to the GM team they are keeping us guessing but waiting patiently for the big day when the wraps come off.

Looked at all 18 pictures. Interesting to see Stingray style fenders on both cars not Z06 fenders. Could that be connected to the rumors that this will have a hot naturally aspirated motor not a 700hp blown one? The car with the lower wing looks pretty good. Still think ZR1 is the wrong name for this track car. Hope to see it at the NAIAS in 6 weeks!
Makes sense to be NA and follows the Zl1-Z/28 strategywith the Zl1 (Z06) being the higher horsepower but daily drivable car where as the Z/28 (ZR1) is purpose built for the track.

Does anyone here REALLY want to see Corvettes selling in the hundreds and become extinct like the Dodge?

It's a halo car and marketing piece. It's only 1 model not the whole Corvette line. It won't be a high volume car. How many do you think they're going to sell at it's very high price point?

Also, the anticipation of the C8 could take a bite out of sales.
NO question of that, and the car could become instantly collectable.
Especially if it turns out to be the last front-engine Corvette AND the most powerful.
BTW Ser #1 will be sold at BJ for charity. Makes 7 digits. Rick Hendrik outbids all comers. Heard it here first.

This isn't the time to throw mere HP at a buffed-up C7, Z06 or otherwise.
Has to be uber-special, it's technology lasting a decade -- setting a standard for next several generation Cs and above all else, performance blowing away all but the most extreme marques at a fraction of their operating costs. Hellova goal.
Must be AWD if it's to get its power to the ground efficiently w/ record times.
Must have all the jazz people seem to want, and get, w/ exotics starting w/ a high quality interior/materials.
Front engine Corvettes remain through C7 run.
A new generation C8 may offer AWD standard, and GM would've had more than enough time to workout whatever bugs it might have.
This ZR1 would be a one-off for now, a stand-alone halo car representing the very best engineering GM has to offer.
Right car w/could generate a billion $s in positive press, and the buggers wouldn't be lying for a change.

Drifting
Ultimate solution for everyone would be a variable geometry spoiler that can be tuned to Drive Mode and Vehicle Speed to meet the criteria required at all times.
Yes it adds weight but Porsche does it and so does MB. Since it's a ZR1, money is no object.

I like the new air intakes at the front, not a fan of the wing. The hood vent looks good. I think the red mirrors look tacky with the new paint scheme.

Not a fan of wings either, but that one looks pretty cool. I'm thinking this may not be the ZR1 like everyone thinks but it may be a light weight version of the Z06 (Z06X ?). Kind of the equivalent of the Viper ACR. I wouldn't mind a lighter version. That thing would be a track killer.
