5 Reasons the C8 Corvette Should Offer a Manual Transmission
#41
In my twenties I towed cars and trucks. The only thing that was always consistent. All high mileage cars blow their auto tranny's first BEFORE their motors. But the junk yards are full of old tranny's for cheap.

C'mon Steve. This has got potential.
How about:
"Manual owners prefer CHOCOLATE CAKE, claiming REAL Corvette owners eat ONLY CHOCOLATE CAKE. Chime in with your thoughts"
or
"Automatic owners claim CHOCOLATE CAKE caused TC malfunctions. Chime in with your thoughts"
or
"We can't think of any clickbait....chime in with your thoughts"
or
"What Donald Trump eating French Fries and Corvette owners eating CHOCOLATE CAKE says about us. Chime in with your thoughts"

Sooooo, this thread has gone from manual transmissions in the projected C8 to editorials on chocolate cake. And, we did it within 43 posts. I do believe that is a new record for a thread going downhill and hitting bottom.

Not sure why there is so much angst with this. There are only two differences between shifting a manual transmission Vs manually shifting a DCT one is you don't have a clutch and the other is you have some paddles alongside the steering column/wheel to shift the transmission Vs a stick through the floor. You still manually control the transmission. You can upshift and downshift just like you can with a manual. You have direct drive from the engine through the transmission to the drive shaft/axle. The big advantage of the DCT is it can also be an automated manual transmission.
An automatic transmission has a torque converter instead of a clutch so you don't always have a direct connection from the engine to the drive shaft/axle. Yes, the newer ones have torque converter clutches that lockup at certain points.
