Car provide warning for me
I noticed the other day when I was driving on the outskirts of town a message popped up in the Driver Information Center alerting me that "possible icy conditions exist", or something to that effect. That message popped up when the outside temp dropped and registered 37 degrees. It must be related to the outside temperature. Is that a generic warning tied to the ambient temperature of the car's digital thermometer?

Yes, BMW has had that feature on all their vehicles since the 80s.

It is a warning I would heed especially if you are driving on your OEM tires. They get hard as hockey pucks when the temperatures drop.

When I drove to work this morning the temp was 25F. Part of my commute is on narrow, twisty, country roads, and it's a great place to have fun, but recently on the PSS I've been having to take it easy. No more!
Let me just say one more time the Michelin PS AS3+ is an awesome tire. It felt like July, with the car completely hooked up as if on rails.

if the temp outside is hovering around the freezing mark it will give you that warning.

Those tires I posted a picture of, in post #5, I would not buy again for one reason. Not because they are not good. But......if you like to rotate from side to side the tire has to come off and be remounted. With the new non directional tread design that is not an issue.
I do a lot of 1G cornering and these tires are just as grip capable as the originals. I have about 12K on these now and hardly any wear. My originals were in the yellow zone at 12K.
