I think my battery is going dead...
For the last few mornings, when I attempt to open the door on my 2014 C7 it won't open. I have to press the unlock button my fob to open it. When I drive to where I'm going and exit the car it locks automatically as designed. When I return a few minutes or a few hours later, I have no problem opening the door without using the fob in my pocket. The next morning the same thing happens again. I haven't changed any settings and in AZ batteries typically last around 3 years. I plan to take it to Chevy to test the battery. I may just replace the battery so I don't get stuck somewhere. Anyone else experience this problem?
PS...I drive the car daily so I have no need for a battery tender.

Mine lasted 3 years too, I finally said screw it and changed it. For $168 (my cost), $240 retail, it was worth it.

Just to make sure and maybe save yourself a little money, replace the battery in the RKE Fob first and go from there.

Replace the battery in the key fob. This is your issue. I just went through this.

Get a 2-pack and replace the battery in both fobs.

Yeah, mine was doing the same thing. Eventually, the unlock button will stop working too when the battery gets low enough. Everything is working well since replacing the batteries in the fobs.

if your fob battery is going dead you'll get a warning on your DIC that say's, your fob battery is getting low.

And FYI....the battery type is CR2032 and you can find them in any store that sells batteries and even supermarkets.

OP, Recently had the battery in our Lexus go dead. It's 11/2013 dated, 5 year battery. This car is our daily driver used by both my wife and myself. Rather than replace the battery, I purchased a CTEK trickle charger, the model that's identical to the charger that comes with the Corvette battery maintenance package. I read the instruction manual that explains how this charger also checks and improves the health of the battery via the pulse of the signals it sends. So I put the CTEK on the battery for about a half day. Haven't had a problem with the battery since that happened about a month ago. I'm saying this to say, maybe you want to put a CTEK charger on your battery even though it's your daily driver. Until the OEM battery is four years old, I wouldn't run out and replace it unless I'm sure the battery is toast.

If your car is a 2014 you have a 3 year warranty and it will be replaced for free. Just had my 14 Z51 battery replaced for free last month as it only lasted 2 years!

Interesting....I read the warranty information in the manual and I thought it said the battery was only warranted for 12 months, not 36 months. Based on your comment and some others I guess I should check again. :-)

Another attempt...
I didn't get a chance to go to the store yesterday to get a fob battery, so I took the 2nd fob out to the garage to see if the door would open. It did not work. So both fobs aren't working and the 2nd fob has never been used. It should have sufficient juice left to unlock the doors.
In addition to that, to make sure I could get in the car, I used the emergency key under the trunk lid and it set the alarm off. To make matters worse, the 2nd fob wouldn't shut off the alarm because of the weak signal. It finally worked thank goodness. I'm not sure why the alarm would go off when you're using an emergency key. Guess I'lll have to go back to the manual again....lol
Is there a trick to opening the fob to replace the battery? The manual says to twist the emergency key to separate the fob but it's tight as a drum and I'm afraid I'm going to break the casing. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm off to the store to get batteries now. :-)
