2014 upgrade to a 2017
Today I picked up my new 2017 Stingray convertible. The new car is equpped exactly the same as the car it replaced (2014) with the exception of model year upgrades and a different color (Admiral Blue). There is more change than I would have thought. Imediately, upgrades to the infotainment are extensive (back to the book). Clutch feel has been greatly improved. The exhaust system (standard) has a different louder sound. More to come!

It's interesting that you should notice this because as far as I know there is no logical reason why the exhaust would sound different on a 2017 vs the 2014 since they've made no changes to either the engine or the exhaust.
Congrats on the new car, and I echo the others in saying post some pictures! (time to update your avatar pic too!)

Yes, I suspect "placebo" effect. Everyone expects a "new car" to be better, so it is in their minds. Not only are the exhaust systems identical, there is no reason the clutch feel should be any different either, except perhaps individual car differences. Wear and tear on the old car, vs. a brand new clutch could explain slight differences. My '14 clutch feel and action couldn't be better. I didn't notice any difference between a '17 and my '14.
Other than infotainment, which I don't care about, it's the same car.

Not true, the performance exhaust is not standard on the base model, and Larry has already mentioned he has the same exhaust on this car as he had on his 2014. It is curious because exhaust systems generally get louder once they are broken in, but the opposite effect is happening here, the fresh exhaust sounds louder to him. Perhaps GM made a change to the base exhaust without advertising it? (different supplier for the mufflers perhaps?)

from car to car
...and despite the fact that the process is more and more automated, you can have a touch of differences from car to car going down the assembly line.............when shopping I've driven identical models/features and (I think) have noticed tangible differences.....the ultimate solution is, of course, double blind, but running over people made it less than a viable option

Larry/Car,
Was your '14 C7, also a convertible?

First, yes the 2014 was also a convertible. The clutch on my previous 2014 was extremely grabby, it got better over time but compaired to the 2017 it never really smoothed out (?). Now the exhaust; I drove my 2014 to the dealer, on the drive home with the 2017 first thing I noticed is the exhaust has a different sound, slightly louder higher pitch (this is back to back operation not more than an hour later). I also noticed the throttle response seems more profound (computer fuel scheduling could effect power and sound) in any event the engine seems more responsive. Yes pictures have been taken, they are still in my phone, I need to go to the office to install them here, they will be posted soon! I drove the car yesterday and observed the following; the shifter is tight/on the notchy side, seemed to get better as miles accumulated (all of 27) the car arrived at the dealership with one mile on the clock. The car exhibits no tendency to pull and goes where it is pointed, very smooth. My work schedule prevented more hands on operation. The car needs detailed, the dealer serviced and washed it but door jams etc need dusting and shipping cover marks need polishing. The paint is satisfactory, however I have not touched it, the top of the hood is smooth as glass. More to come.

Larry, congratulations on the new ride!!! Just curious what the big driver was to go from a 2014 to the 2017? Was your '14 getting high miles on it or was it really a desire to get the Admiral Blue color? Can't wait to see the photos!

First the warranty was about to expire, sales volume is down and dealers are dealing, model year upgrades and front cameras (not hitting the curb could save thousands). I watched my options, M7, 2LT, Navigation/PDR, kept depreciation low (if I factor the best extended warranty available [not as good as GM's] my yearly depreciation was just over $2,200 per year, and that is really good. Even my salesman said; that is a really great deal! I am becoming a preferred customer, the whole dealership knew of my loyalty and they go the extra mile, I really like being catered too. I love the new car experience, the ultimate mod (remember no blemishes). I do like the Admiral Blue color but that was a side benifit. When you see the delivery pictures you will know what I mean.

Congratulations and you must have an understanding wife (lol). There is no way I could trade my 2015 in for a newer model of the same generation.
