Base A8 compared to Z06 A8?
I am in the market for a Z06 and want to see if I like the a8 transmission. The problem I'm running into is the only dealer with a Z will not let people test drive the cars.. even with a C6Z title in hand. If the base a8 is essentially the same I'll just go test drive one and make a decision from there.
Thanks,
Brett

Clearly dealerships have so much money that they don't want to sell Z's.

My understanding is its the same except for the torque converter. I have a A8 Z51 and my friends dad has a A8 Z06 ive driven his car and the Trans feels exactly the same. If you like the A8 in a stingray you will like it in the z06.

thanks! I'll go test drive a stingray then.

Realize that the A8 needs to break in and learn, so a brand new A8 will not perform the same as one which has been properly trained.
The A8 is awesome - my '16 Z51 now has 20,000 miles of smiles.

Give us your insights after your test drive..
I drove the 7 speed rev matching manual and liked it but I am intrigued by the improved performance of the A8...
Let us know if you dig the point and shoot the A8 offers...
I have to get my butt down to a dealer and test drive the A8 as well...maybe a few preowned examples would be a smarter move to test drive?
