Today's "ride" with the Chevy Tech
The drive verdict is in and the Chevy service tech after driving the car today while I sat in the passenger seat confirmed that it was the TC that is causing my rough ride conditions. I even felt the shudders in the passenger seat and while doing so, I was hoping that he was noticing the same in the driver's seat. And he agreed that he noticed the problem at the same time that I was feeling it. Now the parts are on order and I can say good bye to "The Shark" for a couple of days sometime next month. He has personally replaced some TCs very recently and he seems confidant that the replacement outcome will be quite noticeable to me as it has been to him after performing the "operation" on other C7s. Time will tell.....

Make sure the dealer installs part #24280631, which is latest Revision #3 of the TC--four part numbers so far including the original (24264542, 24273061, 24279495, & 24280631). As a naive optimist I'm hoping this one will be the magic bullet. To help with the research, please post the original and new TC part # on KirkGS's thread.

TY for supplying this info
Mine just had the TC replacement after first taking it to the dealer on 12/12/16. After it sat for a month because the TC was backordered, I picked the car up and told the dealer to tell me when they were ready to start work. At that time I found out the parts were actually in but the tech had been out because of illness and he was backed up. The car is now ready but I haven't picked it up yet.

My 2016 C7 A8 started shuddering too
It was so slight I wondered if it was road vibration. Intermittent under slight accel or steady speed at 45-60mph. Like a intermittent recurring brup weak speed strips feel. I debated taking to dealer because they don't have Corvette franchise and service loves to DRIVE it. I think they won't feel it even if I drive it with them. After reading this thread I decided to take it in. Maybe I'm feeling brave today; normally I don't want them to touch anything if I can avoid it.

I have an opportunity to by a new 16 for a great price but I am hesitating because of the A8 issues.

The car I am looking at is z51 2 lt with a build date of Feb 2016.
Locally I also have a m7 z51 2LT available from 2016. I can't seem to work the same deal on thus one though.
There has been a significant amount of topics on the A8 on the forum.
Unfortunately most of the replies never tell your their mileage if they say all is good. I think this is a key piece of information.
I have a feeling that many of these will fail somewhere between 8 and 15000 miles.
Is there anyone out there with over 12k in miles that has not had a problem?
Is there a magic build date where the problems seem to be minimal. I have read October 15 but there are several topics discussing failures after this point..even into the 2017 build.

My friend with a MY 2015 A8 built Sept 2014 got up to 32000 miles before his TC had to be changed.
Some have had TC failures as early as a few hundred miles, others after a few thousand mile and the one I know of at 32000 miles.
If you do a search for "KrikGS" here on the forum you will see his 2017 GS MY built in August of 2016 has a TC go south within a few hundred miles of ownership and lots of other forum members chiming in with their issues.
You do not see many M7 owners complaining about drive line issues .
Good luck and good hunting.

Dealer just called. Another bad torque converter. 2015 Z51 with 11,500 miles. They are working on another 2015 currently also. 3-4 days to get part and a day or so to install. I think the car build date is irrelevant. What would matter is when the torque converter was manufactured as they are not from Bowling Green plant and probably explains why you are seeing them in 2017 cars even. You really have no idea when the torque converters were built and when the problem was identified (damaged O-rings during assembly) and how long they sit in inventory before being installed.

Drifting
I told one of the service writers there about this and she said that they have not heard of these symptoms hence I've reached out to the forum to see what others have experienced. The shutter doesn't seem to happen in cruise control but I need to drive it to verify that now that someone mentioned it here. I don't feel it in the gas pedal either but in the driver's seat. Gremlins in the works?

Finalist 2020 C7 of the Year -- Unmodified
Put the Fuc"""" A6 back in these cars till GM can get the A8 figured out or hopefully GM and Ford can build a A10 that replaces the A8 with good build quality. I feel bad for you guys that are having these problems with your A8 cars. It is crazy to think this has been going on from 2015-2017 ! No way am I leaving my 2014 Z51 A6 even though I would like to upgrade to a newer year.Good luck guys with your fixes!

New 8 speed transmission. Built at Retooled Toledo transmission plant

My thought is that they are having trouble with seal seat verifications in torque converter because you can't see them once assembled. It would be a quality assurance problem.
