This is the correct answer. That is essentially what the manual says. I have 25K on mine the first oil change was at about 7,500 it showed 1% life left. At about 15,000 it showed 1% oil life left. At 22,500 it showed about 1% left. If you go a year, and don't have many miles on it will indicate an oil change regardless of the mileage. So in summary it is about every 7,500 miles or a year, which ever occurs first. If you want to disregard what the manual says, and I don't know why you would, it is a free country. Old habits die hard as they say.
Conversely if is was all highway miles with far fewer starts and stops it would be zero at higher miles.

OLM is an *estimate* based on time and engine operating data, not a true analysis of the oil's condition. Given that, I never wait for it to say "0%" or near it.
I always change oil in new cars at about 500 miles, regardless of what the manufacturer says -- just seems like good practice for a newly-assembled motor. After that, I change it when the OLM drops under 20% -- typically around 5000-6000 miles traveled. I DD my Corvette, so that works out to be about twice a year.
Could I go longer? Sure, but I change my own oil, so the cost is pretty minimal (<$50), and I feel better about giving the OLM some margin in its estimate.

That would be all over social media and the sales department would have a heart attack, IMHO.

Great suggestions. I learned not to trust mfr recommendations for transmission oil. My last car had "Lifetime transmission oil".
Strangely, that model was plagued with failing transmissions to the point of a class action lawsuit. To this day, some guys on that forum swear that deviating from mfr manual is not needed and to ship a sample to Blackstone labs before doing anything.... I'm just not that into it enough to engage a lab to analyze my oils. In any case, regarding engine oil changes, I've always done my own but for the C7 I feel more comfortable with a dealer doing it at least until I get comfortable with doing it myself.

All depends on the dealership. Young Chevrolet in Dallas uses drive on lifts to do oil changes. No worry about cracking the rocker panels. They know to use Mobil 1 (they use retail 1 quart containers). I have a Z51 and they put in 9.5 quarts and give me the half quart left over. Oil level is about mid-way up the hash marks on the dip stick. Just they way I like it. They are very meticulous with the entire process. There is an area in the bay where you can stand and watch everything they do. They treat my car as well as I would treat it.

Yes , under customer care it says , " 2 year/48,000 km scheduled lube oil and filter maintenance " I guess that is my free oil changes. Thanks

I know that I can do it and it will be done correct. It might cost me $45 for the oil and a decent filter. It can be done in the privacy of my own workshop just by driving it up on the ramps. I don't have to drive anywhere, check in, wait, and hope they did a good job. The Corvette is one of the easiest cars to change oil and filter in that I ever owned.

So what have we learned here today? Don't trust the manual, the dealer, or the manufacturer. Next?
