Can't get the Michelins right now, the ContinentalExtreme Sport is all I can find in the right sizes.
Good choice???

Got Extreme Contacts on my GS. I have not tracked them but for the street they're awesome. They also perform much better than the OEM Super Sports tires in the rain. They also do not chatter. I have about 2K miles on them and I never going back to Michelins.

I also had to get the Continental Extreme Contact on the 15 Z06 that I just bought. Was wanting a set of Michelin A/S run flats for my car but like you said, there are none available but after running the Continental's for the last couple of weeks am well pleased with them. They have a very smooth and quiet ride and as MMD posted, I have not had the tire chatter that I had with the Michelin's.

Continental makes good tires. I would consider them if I were looking for non run flat summer tires.

For whatever its worth my brother runs Continental's on his Boxster GTS. This whole Michelins are required because they are OEM spec seems silly to me as there are plenty of other good tires to chose from. For example I run Bridgestone / Firestone just due to good past experiences.

Other than non run flat other manufacturers including cont. make a great tire that is well suited for street driving. I had indy 500's for summer and cont. dws for cooler temps on my previous car and I loved both.

Contis are good, those particular tires tend to flat spot for me on my 88 when it sits a week. The Contact DWS flat spotted on my Cayenne a good bit. Took a mile or two to get out of it.

I have not experienced this condition with my GS. I have gone months without driving the vehicle and I do not use a flat spot preventer. You're the first person I have read that has mentioned this. I am very surprised as you live in warm Alabama.

Most Corvette owners are averaging 1 mile per day in their Corvette. You will need to come back in another 100 years to ask that question.

I run the Cont. extreme and very pleased on my 19 GS. Very quiet, smooth and yes there is some flat spotting after a few days but it goes away after a few miles. At least now I can hear the wife and enjoy a conversation while riding.

Some owners would consider that a reason not to purchase them.

I have gone through a major go around with Michelin on AS3+ recently. My advice; avoid Michelin. I had AS3+ on my GS, and put a nail in one with 2k miles on them, tires under a year old. I headed over to my buddies at Discount Tire and they determined the tire was unrepairable. Searching nationwide, and working with Michelin direct, it was determined none were to be found and, Michelin could not give any kind of production date; indications were it may not be until Dec. Being I enjoy driving my car, I decided to make move to Continentals, albeit they do not make a run flat. Being I would need to replace both, Discount replaced both sides under terms of my warranty. Due to pro rating, and mounting fees, etc I still had to pay just shy of $300 for the (2) new tires.
I went home still not 100% satisfied and opened a Customer Service case with Michelin. After going back and forth and informing them I was now on a competitors product, they gave me a warranty claim case number and informed me to go to my dealer and have them call. Today, I went to Discount who spent about 20 minutes on the phone with Michelin. Waiting I thought this was a good sign. In the end Michelin agreed to replace my tires and get me back on Michelins. The deal was this: I was buy the new tires, pay to have mount, etc, and submit the bill to them and they would cover 40%, or $528 in my case. If you do the math in this situation, I spend $300 to get on Continentals and $528 for the replacement Michelins a total of $828. Between all of this, I could have just bought (2) new tires outright. When talking to the manager at Discount Tire, he told me this is very common with Mich, not just for rare sizes like the GS has, but even for common size car tires.
With all this I went through and minimal on going support of Michelins products, going forward I will not most likely be buying their tires any longer. Beyond this, the manager at DT told me they feel the Continental is a better tire anyhow!

Great info and opinions on this thread. I’ve always liked the Contis and think they excel in all categories.
Thanks
