Stone150, your Vette is gorgeous in those pictures. Best picture I've seen of Big Sur. Thank you for sharing.

Glacier Road to the Sun
Swt 86, your Glacier pictures are breathtaking. My problem is when I'm driving I also like to look at the scenery. In a Corvette that is not smart.

Next September I will be leading an NCM Museum in Motion tour through 5 National Parks; here are a few pics from the pre-run.....
Good news, the registration for this trip should open next month....the bad news is we are only taking 25 cars and there are close to 50 on the waiting list......http://www.corvettemuseum.org/event/...nstance_id=607 Keep watching for a 2018 trip.

Sand dunes in Colorado(nowhere near an ocean).
This is what happens when Park ranger sees an open container of beer in your parked car....
$75 fine to get it removed. If he stops you while you are driving and sees the open beer container, it's straight to jail and a heck of a lot more than $75 to continue on with your vacation.

One of the greatest experiences in life is a road trip in your Corvette. My service tech in Carlsbad, California told me he was so happy to see my gorgeous Corvette on the road, being driven.
Share your road trip with us. Supply the essential data: year, model and type; transmission, date, trip route, miles completed, tips on good and bad roads, maintenance issues, weather, stunning pictures. Add a unique story to pique our interest.
My trips in C7 Z51 M7 Coupe.
March 2015 Alexandria, Virginia to San Diego, California: US 1, US 15 & 29 to Danville, VA; US 158 I40 to Asheville, NC; I40 to Memphis; US 79 and US 82 to Texarkana; I30 & US 381 to Decatur, TX; US 287 to Amarillo; I40 to Flagstaff; AZ64 to Grand Canyon; AZ66 and US 93 to Hoover Dam; US 95 & CA78 to Carlsbad, CA.
3,500 miles
Highlights: Texas US highways are excellent condition for high-speed motoring. US 95 along the Colorado River is scenic with many stops. CA 78 is an exciting mountain touring road.
Avoid Arkansas US highways.
No repairs needed. Icy conditions in Great Smoky Mountains, NC

Sometimes things don't go as planned...from a l-o-n-g traffic jam in Colorado....
to a cold and rainy ferry crossing of lake Champlain in NY/VT.....
to a hailstorm, and flooding on US24 between Manitou Springs and Pikes Peak...
The owner of this Corvette was lucky. Another couple in our group had to evacuate their Corvette and climb to high ground along side the highway. Their Corvette was totaled.

Sometimes unexpected things happen the other way.
On a road trip along the Mighty Mississippi, we stopped at one of the lock & dams to watch them pass a 1/4 mile long string of barges thru.
We were invited in(past the tall chain link fence with barbed wire with "No Trespassing" signs posted) to see the operation close up. We were able to talk to the tug's crew as they did their job.
Then I was allowed into the operator's booth where I was allowed to actually operate the locks(under close supervision of the lock's operator shown in the photo)...
To pass this cruise ship thru the lock on it's way north...
It doesn't sound like that big a deal, but I guess I'm easily entertained as it was a big deal to me.

Another road trip to the Michigan UP.
First we stopped in Effingham, IL and saw Yager's collection of authentic race Corvettes......
Then we visited the Gilmore Automobile Museum in Kalamazoo( a must see museum) where they had roped off an area at the very front strictly for our Corvettes)...
Then we cruised along Lake Michigan visiting a ton of state parks and their historic lighthouses.....
Then we stopped in Mackinaw City and took the ferry to Mackinac Island(no cars allowed on island)...
We started out with the base carriage with it's two horsepower..
But half way around the island we switched to a high performance three horsepower model.
I even found an "Arch" in Michigan to photograph....
Then a cruise on Lake Superior....
where we viewed some interesting bluffs...
Then watched a sunset out over the lake as we headed back to shore...
Then south through Wisconsin(pretty drive, but nothing to stop and see) into Illinois where I stopped to visit the Illinois Railroad museum in Union, IL. Spent most of the day there as it's a spectacular railroad museum....
I have a photo of myself sitting in the engineer's seat of this CB&Q E5 some 25 or 30 years ago when it was still in limited service(public relation tours) on the BN.
Then a long slow boring drive all the way south through Illinois to St Louis where I once again saw some decent scenery(as viewed from I-44) west to Springfield(home).

It's also fun to do a road trip to see a NASCAR race(especially if you have a "hot Pass" that allows you into the garages and pits before and during qualifying and the race).
It's okay to drive your Corvette to a NASCAR race. At one race(Talladega) I saw a C5 with a 4X6 open utility trailer behind it in the parking lot. I later saw the C5's owner help his friend into the passenger seat and then load his friend's wheelchair onto the trailer. That's true friendship, when you go to the trouble to install a trailer hitch on your Corvette so you can take your friend to the race in your Corvette(and not in your F150), etc

I'm thinking about a couple of short trips for 2017. A 6 day trip over to Dayton, OH in May to visit the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, them up to Dearborn, MI for a couple of days to visit the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, then on the way back home, swing by Auburn, IN to visit the Auburn Cord Museum.
Then a 3 day trip to Queen Wilhelmina State Park in eastern Arkansas(Mena) to stay a couple of nights in their beautiful lodge and drive the beautiful Hwy 1/88 into Oklahoma in early November to see the fall colors. I will drive two exceptional "Corvette" roads on this trip. Hwy 7 south of Harrison, AR and then Hwy 23( AKA "Pig Trail") north to Eureka Springs, AR.
