^^^ Even so, the Corvette remains one of the most hands on mass produced vehicles of our day.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I did the museum delivery/factory tour in 2015. Absolutely great experience.

Burning Brakes
Reminds me of when I bought my 75 coupe. After getting home from the dealer and washing it for the first time, I noticed the bottom quarter of the drivers door was gray primer, not white like the rest of the car !!!!

Very pics. It's always a good time touring the plant and seeing how these cars are built.

^^^ The gentlemen in the photo that you referenced is actually one of the two gentlemen who oversee the entire fit and finish of the interior and exterior components. He and his counterpart spend a lot of time on the line each day inspecting the work of the assembly line workers and helping them find solutions for problems with parts, process, etc.

Safety Car
Plant Management, under the leadership of new Plant Manager, Kai Spande, last year implemented new mutilation policies placing some limitations on certain items that people could and could not wear. A couple of these included no more rings and belt buckles have to be properly covered. As for safety on the line based on the type of clothing worn, I've never seen or heard of any issues.

While on my last buyer's tour, my guide asked me what I thought about the guy with blue hair working on my car. I said, "As long as he does his job right, I don't care what color his hair is."

We're treated to some amazing photos of the assembly process, and all some people can comment on is how the workers are dressed. That's pretty bizarre.
Somehow, I don't think I'm getting a better car if the workers are all nattily attired and looking like human robots.

Look at the picture of the dude in the line of yellow cars....... the one with his cell phone on his belt. Even in other pictures employees have belt and pocket metal protectors, the red areas on their jeans.
This is pathetic they are so lax.
Go to a foreign facility and they all have smocks on. Just a few years ago they smoked on the floor and took cars to wendys for lunch runs so maybe this is an improvement?

GM has a winning formula for the Corvette - price point, sales numbers, matched to a reasonable factory production process. At the $150K price point, people want something more and people who spend that much are more selective, and GM can't deliver that. They can produce a boutique mid-engine car in small numbers and sell it at that price point as a Cadillac, but they can't replace the entire Corvette lineup with that.

You are right, even though alot of posters here are giving you flak. And your comment dovetails into the C8 "mid-engine" threads. Go watch a youtube video of what is looks like when a $170K McClaren is built, then look at this, and tell me GM can sell a $150K Corvette. No way.

But not too many years ago at break time the workers were allowed to sit in new cars and smoke so respect of your new Corvette is not shared by all at BG.
I wonder if the posters who love the open dress code wants their surgeons or even their dentist to dress in whatever. Its the same concept.
