Mildly disturbed....thought I was buying a sports car

Getting this good mileage I just don't know how you can tolerate driving your car. Why, powerful vettes of past times got more like 10 miles per gallon....now that was something macho a guy could brag about ( not to mention the fresh odor of unburned gasoline in the exhaust ). I hope you can suffer through this indignity.

Anyone serving in the military earned my respect when they graduated from basic.
My kids eat brussel sprouts, asparagus, legumes, quinoa and just about any leafy green I can get. Getting them to try sushi, now that was tough but my son likes it. My daughter will only eat it if I drench it in teriyaki sauce or bribe her with pizza.
Of course we only have two kids and both had to pass Daddy Boot Camp to get to where they are...if I had FOUR MORE KIDS I doubt very much I'd have had the patience for it!

Ok, let's recap what this thread has taught me.....fuel economy is gay and I'm fat. Man, now I'm depressed. Good thing I picked up some ice cream, that'll make me feel better

Don't worry. You have a high performance car that has a small trunk and gets terrible gas mileage.
I have the grocery hauling economy version.
My C6 Z06 with 505+HP has 50% more cargo space(enough for a family of 12????) in the rear than you plus I averaged 33.0 MPG over a 450 mile trip from Springfield, MO to Natchez, MS.
That was not 450 miles of driving a steady 65 MPH on an Interstate highway, but driving through the Ozark mountains and a bunch of little towns with their stop signs and traffic lights, with mixed traffic. Only about 30 miles of 75 MPH Interstate driving.
Don't read anything into the low MPH and RPM in the photo as I had been driving at around 65 MPH for the past 50 miles, or so, and averaged 32.9 MPG and I was slowing down in 6th gear to stop for a stop sign about 20 miles from Natchez when the DIC went to 33.0 MPG, and I grabbed my camera.

yeah, my C6 (base) definitely got better mpg despite lacking Direct Injection, DOD, VVT and 7th gear. I got 32 in the C6. I expected to get 34 with all the goodies, but I get 39-30. I'm guessing it's the the down force Z51+ splitter + side skirts) that's hurting a lot.

So I bought the vette thinking I was getting a world competitive sports car. My midlife crisis. My throw caution to the wind dream. But apparently, what I got was the equivalent of an economy car. Fuel economy in the 30's??? Cargo room to grocery shop for a family of 8???? What is this nonsense?!?!

I must be from another thread. Sometimes (more often than not) I actually try to get the worst possible mpg. Managed 13.7 at one point. Not sure how low you can get these. Better burn it while it is cheap and tlhe roads aren't all swarming with autonomous cars.

It's a Corvette Stingray. We don't care about gas mileage and other mundane things. Exhilaration matters the above all else. The food in his trunk reflects this..which I am ok with. You sound you like you should be on the Prius forums.
