Still an idiot of the highest standard. You dont think for one minute he could just show up with wheel barrels full of pennies and walk out? He has to stay there the entire time they are counted.
Stupid is as stupid does.

No one has mentioned the poor folks that came in behind this man and had to wait in line until he got finished with his tirade. He must have a lot more time on his hands than the average person who must spend time from work to get their cars registered at the DMV.

The guy has a legitimate beef with the DMV. They REFUSED to give him the local phone number of the DMV office in his area. WHY would they do that? To him it was an FOIA issue. The state actually wanted to maximize its revenue and they did not want him comparing tax rates between counties. He sued and his court cases were dismissed. In other words, the government bureaucracy won. So he pulled this trick as an act of revenge.

An example. I have a house in "the country" and a condo in "the city." I can legally register my vehicles at either address. The county in which the city is located has a requirement that all vehicles must be smog tested. It's an annual requirement, costs a bit of money and a lot of time. The "city" can also add to the license costs with a additional tax if they want to, and of course they want to. The county where the country house exists has no such smog requirement and no additional taxes. Given that you know this, here would YOU register your vehicles? Do you think it is within your rights to know the difference? What of the DMV won't tell you? That's what happened here.

Let's try another example. You do due diligence in purchasing a new car. You know there is more than one dealer to chose from and you know their prices can vary. Now what if GM told you that you could not comparison shop and that you MUST buy a car from the dealer in your local area. Would you think that was fair?

This guy is angry because his local government bureaucracy gave him the runaround and treated him like ****. And here is everyone calling him names. He's not a "douche" and he's not a "dick" for standing up for himself. Who cares if he's got four houses? You've got a corvette you don't need. You really ought to do more than react to a headline before you go calling people names. He deserves our support, not our derision. You ought to be ashamed.

He is a very smart man that tried to work the system to his advantage (nothing wrong with that). The problem is he acted out like a spoiled child when he lost.

In Virginia, we have an ANNUAL PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX on autos. My annual tax bill for my C7 is around $450. Is he going to do this every year.

How about the state workers who, presumably, had to count or take care of this d!ckhead and about the extra cost incurred by taxpayers who were forced pay for his little hissy-fit?
IF he was smart, he would have taken the matter up with those who actually have the power to do something about it, not the little govt. clerks.

So he is protesting himself.
He's a douche.

Wait, you're assuming this guy thinks things thru...that might be asking a bit too much (IMO).

Everyone has a right to protest anything the govt. does.
That's a fundamental guaranteed in the Bill of Rights.
However, there is a problem when it tramples on the rights of other citizens.

We are responsible for the government that is in power. All of us (OK at least the people who are eligible to vote).

He, unlike everybody else, did protest. Didn't you notice? It's why you're calling him a douche - for protesting.
