Default Question from new owner

I will be picking up a 2017 1LT coupe from the dealership shortly. What do I need to know immediately, before I get home and start reading the owners manual? I'm not sure the dealer will provide me with all the information I need.

Still get them to go over all of it on the buttons and little stuff. One is the use of the Ebrake. Really man that is what you have paid for them going over the option of the car and how to use them.

The dealer should go over all the basics with you. Such things as how to adjust settings, FOB operation, ebrake, gas filler operation, etc. They should give you enough of a review and detail that you feel comfortable driving away with a good understanding of all the features.
Then read the manual for greater detail and you should be all set to enjoy your Vette.

I thought the owner's manual was awful. Took me two days to figure out how to turn the car to 'accessory' and not start the motor. Every time I go in there looking for answers I don't find them. For example when the low fuel light comes on, how much fuel is left in the tank? It simply doesn't tell you, it just says something stupid like 'better get gas soon'.

Who writes these things? WTF?

You can read the owners manual on line at GM's site.

On the Chevy website there is a 2017 Corvette "Getting to Know" Guide that gives you a quick summary of the important buttons and controls. I'd look that over before you head to the dealership.

You'll notice there is a lower redline during break-in. Respect it.

The key fobs do NOT have identification as to #1 and #2; however, electronically they are in fact #1 and #2. As such when doing memory settings it can be confusing and frustrating when the settings don't follow what you think is 'your' fob. Not a huge deal, but a head scratcher until you figure it out.

Ask them how to get out of the car if there is a complete power failure.

Because smart people read the assembly instructions before they start trying to assemble their kid's new swing set, instead of afterwards.

Just a minor idea that's come in handy for me . . . download a PDF of the owner's manual on your phone or iPad. Then you can use the search function and find things really fast.

Easier yet for a quick read, download the Get to Know Guide for the 2017 Corvette from GM's web site.

I do this will everything complicated I buy. Much easier to search for terms than trying to find things in a paper version.
