Great seeing me standing by my new C7 in today's pictures (I am Jeff K. from Mechanicsville, VA). I drove it home Wednesday night and put it in the garage. Took it out for a short ride on Friday night and had it out on the road for an hour or so yesterday afternoon. An old buddy from work & my next door neighbor got a ride in it as well. For what it is worth, although I am a friendly guy by nature, having a C7 in the driveway really makes people want to talk to you.
My 18-year-old son saw it in the garage when he came over here after he got off work at 3am Saturday - a total surprise to him! He got a ride in it yesterday and he will ONLY be in the passenger seat because he never learned how to drive a stick-shift when he had a chance to learn on my old Nissan Sentra that I sold in 2015.
I find myself opening the door to the garage just to stare at this beautiful car. I hope that is a normal thing for Corvette owners. If it isn't, maybe it is because this is my first one. Ever since my son and I visited the NCM when on vacation in 2013, I had hoped that SOMEDAY I would be fortunate enough to own one of these fine automobiles.
I'm going to take it out this afternoon for a spin - and will probably wash and dry it (with very gentle micro-fiber towels) before putting it inside the garage for the night. As Mike Furman recommended, I will hook up the battery protector tonight. I am not sure if I will get a chance to drive it until next weekend. My 2015 Nissan Altima is my 'daily driver' and now has to go back outside. No doubt it might be jealous of the C7. LOL!
I always love the Sunday morning photos posted by Mr. Furman..........but it is an honor to be included this week. :-)

I'm glad you weren't injured yesterday and that there will be no residual effects.
Thanks again for those weekly pictures. It has to take considerable time to assemble the collage of pictures each week and as you know everyone on the forum appreciates your efforts.
My favorite picture has to be the black and white picture of the '62 Chevy's on the showroom. I love seeing old car dealer pictures but I also appreciate all Corvette pictures. There are stories that go for every single one.

Thanks as usual, Mike. Sorry about your accident. There is no more helpless feeling than sitting still in traffic and watching rapidly closing traffic in your mirrors. Texting is a plague.
My daughter was T-boned by a texter who ran through a stop sign on the very first solo drive after obtaining her license. Fortunately, she was in a late-model car with side airbags, and she was unhurt physically. The experience did make her a more defensive driver.

Hey Jeff! Congratulations on your new Corvette! Drive it in good health! I also live in the Richmond VA area and have been a member of the Corvette Club of Richmond for many years. Check us out! We have a membership meeting this coming Friday February 10. Go to our web site CorvetteClubOfRichmond.com and click the About Us tab and then meeting locations. We will be at the West End meeting location on Feb.10, we meet at 7:30. Hope to see you soon!
Thanks!
I "liked" the Corvette Club of Richmond page and am already Facebook friends with one of the members. I might be able to make it, depending upon my work schedule. Where will this 7:30 meeting be held? Are there any dues? Do you just drive up to it?

Sorry about the accident, I hope he has good insurance and has learned to put the damn phone away while driving.
That being said, it looks like today's throwback theme is " '63 Split Windows" which is awesome. I will own one before I die, it's a bucket list item.

idk Mike, if it was the C2 you'd be half way to your dream of owning a swc now
Mike, very happy to hear you are OK.. whiplash is a nasty injury, some say don't brace, some do.. who knows...
thanks for not leaving us high and dry this week and we all would have understood.
Great post as always and the pressure to pick the "favorite" getting tougher each week now lol..
I'll go with the several sw coupes in line with other C2's as it really shows you the differences in that one simple change.. night and day.. and imho the only reason we all "fawn" over the swc is the one year run!! because the non split windows are a heck of alot better looking
PS. my defensive driver safety tips of the day..
1. always leave wheels straight when waiting to turn as if you get hit, are about to be hit or just plain need to move fast, you'll need that .5 second back!!
2. always leave enough room in front of you when stopped to be able to jump out of the way from an out of control driver.
if you can see the rubber of the rear tires from under the car in front of you, that's perfect..if not? you're too close.
this also helps to stop you from starting a chain reaction, hitting the guy in front of you..
having said that, i don't always do these things myself, but try to live by them when possible and teach them to anyone who doesn't know, especially the young ones..

Kirby and his fellow Richmond club members are some of the finest people around. You will fit in fantastic. Wish I lived closer! Kirby's wife bought her Stingray Convt from me a few years ago. Kirby, Jeremy and I had one of the most enjoyable dinners ever this past August at the Carlisle, PA event.

Hope all is well, bummer to get in a shunt like that.
Tie for me, McQueen is a great photo and the SWC and I think it is a P51 Mustang. Can I say that word here?
Another great week of photos and stories.

Sorry about your accident, Mike but I am glad that you're OK buddy.
Maybe a bit sore for a while.
I see people texting while driving all the time. I just don't get it.
Great thread!
