How many people could have been fed for the money that Corvette cost?

About 10 close friends, for 4 days, at the Cayman Cookout last month.

How many people would you have fed with that money?

Absolutely correct. It fed one hell of a lot of people and the money that started flowing through the economy because somebody purchases the car feeds even more once it gets past the first level of people to receive it. All of those local food suppliers spend the money they earn as well.

Of course the Government could just pay for everybody to eat, put a roof over their head, provide furniture, protection, etc. Wait they do that! It is known as the military. They also do it in prisons.

However, if nobody worked to make money to pay the taxes the government needed to provide those services it would fall apart on the first day.

I would of just had a simple answer to him...."don't know, don't care and by the way, you dropped your public transit pass". Ok, maybe I wouldn't of said that, probably would of just said....."Excuse me...and you are?" Ok, maybe I wouldn't of said that, maybe I would of just hacked up a loogie and flung it 6 inches from his feet as I rolled my eyes....ok, maybe not, maybe I would of pointed my finger at my crotch and............

We all feed each other through the economy since we're not prehistoric hunter-gatherers producing all our own food directly. If there is no productive activity (including auto production), there's no food. Some people do get fed without being productive through charity or because they are children or whatever, but others are carrying them along.

This is all basic economics and the original questioner probably doesn't deserve an answer beyond that.

I see a lot of people making economic choices that I wouldn't make, but it's a free country.

Q:
How many people could have been fed for the money that Corvette cost
According to the ads on TV I see, .63 cent per day is the going rate and will feed a human or a sheltered animal. Seems low, but it's their number.
$75,000 Corvette divided by .63 cents equals 119,047 days

A:
One person could be fed for 326 years

LOL . . . it took 28 posts for someone to actually answer a rather simple question, rather than offering political commentary.

That's because it was a political question.

"Wealth redistribution" and its ugly sister "Wealth inequality" are as political as it gets.

I'll pass on my bowl of Gruel today.
I'd prefer the Eggs Benedict over Tenderloin with a Spicy Bloody Mary on the side please.

I always say to people who criticize any purchase I make the following:

"I'm just helping the economy, and when the economy grows lots of people are fed either through the money they earned from the businesses that my spending has supported, or the donations to charity from those same people I have supported with my purchase."

I then ask them if they are a saver and if they give money to charity or religious organizations (who then donate some to charity so an indirect donation). That usually shuts up people.

It's only political if you make it. Socio-economic opinions can be independent (and balanced) with other opinions one has including the above two topics. Putting a label on ones opinion (and thereby putting oneself into a box) is what makes things political.

But then again, I'm more of my own person when it comes to opinions so maybe this is just natural for me. YMMV.

It isn't all charity. Roads, schools, police, fireman, parks, water, water treatment, libraries, not to mention the most bad *** military on the planet, (no matter what some idiots think)

If you really want to rail against the awful government, go do it with the rest of the whack jobs in our off topic/politics section...

+1
I'm not sure it's charity in as much as I don't like how much I have to pay for and how it's spent.

I wonder how many people are being fed BECAUSE of the Corvette being built. Just think about all of the people working at the Bowling Green Plant and associated vendors, suppliers, after market parts, dealers etc.

I have to be honest, this conversation has me intrigued. Such a simple question yet so open ended. Although only speculation on my part, I am sure the guy who asked the original question really had no desire or care about how many mouths could have been fed. This was a mere sinister remark provoking a response. So I will answer in my own way>
It cost 14 years of being in the Marine Corps so far. It cost countless years being apart from my wife and 2 children fighting different wars. It cost moving my family from East Coast, to West Coast, to Overseas every 3 years. It cost my children time after time saying goodbye to their daddy not knowing if he will return. It cost my wife taking care of everything to include bills, home ownership, schools, daycare pickup, and a litany of other task alone without any help. I could go on and on but I can tell you the cost HAS BEEN PAID in full. I believe in choices and there are only 2 kinds of people: Those that chose to do, and those that chose to do not. Hard work, determination, and the willingness to be humble will always prevail. Balance in life comes in many ways. We try to be honest, be faithful, and give as often as possible but there will always be room for improvement. -Maybe the guy just needed a HUG because he was having a bad day...

Well, as the old saying goes,

-Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime
-Give a man a fish and you'll have one less fish

People who butt in and ask asinine questions like the OP mentioned make me wonder how they can go out into the rain and not drown because their months never shut.

WHAT!! The Soldiers in our military give their lives for our freedom, just last week we lost a Navy Seal. They work their *** off and make the lowest salary around, most E1 through E4 qualify for food stamps!! NEWS FLASH they don't get free anything, FURNITURE REALLY every time we receive orders (like every 2 ,3 years ) the move usually costs us about three grand out of pour pocket!!

Ok maybe I did not understand your post. Are you equating our Military to prisons and welfare? Please clarify.

Obviously ZERO.

How much did I donated before the C7 was even designed? You'll find out when I run for president.
