I don't think I would want one in my garage if had a young driver in the house either.
Car runs hot, or so they say on the internet. Better get out soon.
Spent nearly a hundred grand on a car, and find out the dealership still treats you like you bought a Chevy.
Spent a nearly a hundred grand on a car, and find out the dealership doesn't really now how to work on it.

a car in all driving situations.
The last two might have kept me from buying had I realized the full extent of how pervasive these really are.
My Cayenne isn't a top of the line Porsche and was only $112k compared to what most Porsches cost yet the dealer experience is 100 fold better than ANY GM dealer I've ever been to.

Probably scare the bejeezus out of a few folks that buy them.

Then there's always the real cost of ownership.
The first ticket at 20, or 30, or 40 MPH over.
The wife that says "YOU BOUGHT WHAT?".
The insurance company that doubles you rates, after running the Vin #.
People find out tires are expensive, and they don't last long.
Those brakes are going to cost how much?

I thought it was a good idea at the time, but it's not that practical.
Realize it's like carrying a 44 magnum, with an 8" barrel, for your EDC.

Lot of reasons, pick one or make up some of your own.

I don't believe it is a cost issue at all. I had one for little over two years and only put 2200 miles on it. I simply didn't have time to drive it owing a couple of vacation houses. When I am home I am working and it wasn't a practical car to drive to work. I wouldn't assume those who get rid of their Z06 can't afford it.

My 2016 C7Z is for sale with only 343 miles on it. It's a TR/E car that has been garaged since 11/16.
It's my 8th Corvette and probably won't be my last.
Now what's your next question or comment?

I just found several on the forum, some starting from around $68,000.
And you would be incorrect sir, I was just answering the OPs question hypothetically, with what I thought were some fairly rational answers, however they may certainly not apply to you.
After driving two different ones, I've actually been exercising extreme self control, and probably self preservation, by not buying a Z06. I tend to approach everything I do in a very spirited matter!
I also like to keep my toys for at least two years.
We will see what the next year brings to the market.
Ok we are sure you are never going to buy one.....for me not one thing on your list is true.... I had a Z51 Stingray for a year and then traded for my 16 ZO6..... just so much more fun you dont know what your missing...... but hey to each his own... this crap about too much power FAKE NEWS!!!!!

I have to admit I have been tempted to go to a Z but wondering if the car will end up scaring the hell out of me. A casual friend of mine bought one shortly after they came out and sold it within a couple of months, he said the car scared him, went to a P 911 turbo.
Anyway I keep looking, the right deal at the right time and I'd give one a try.
I do think some people are selling to free up some cash for the latest and greatest, Zora or ZR1,

I can drive my C6 Z06 faster than a C7 Z06 or I can drive it as slow as the 26.5 HP 1946 Crosley I had in college. Just depends on how far I open the throttle based on my driving ability.
The driver determines how "scary" a car is, not the car it's self. I can do something stupid and my 4 door Mercedes can be "scary".

It will only scare you if driven irresponsibility. Managing the power is key, many have explored the real estate along the road accelerating in second/third gear. The rear end will come around in an instant. Another area is in turns, the tires grip until they reach their limit then off to the woods. There is no warning! Knowing the car's limits and operating accordingly will provide many miles of enjoyment. I highly suggest attending a performance driving school.
Back on track with the Z's around. I'm going to guess many folks who purchased one as a status thing are finding them not as prestigious as they where hoping for. Like Mustangs many don't know the difference of a sub 50K base C7 (yes you can get them) and 110K 3LZ Z06 Z07. Then neighbor Dr. Bob and Lawyer Jim don't give him the respect he was hoping for. In my area C7's are like mosquitos, they are everywhere. The folks who talk to me about my car or give me a thumbs up are plumbers, A/C guy, you know mostly blue collar guys. Never had a snobby Porsche guy ever come over and talk to me about my car, which works for me. Personally I love my car and prefer the crowd who is into the corvette.

I can tell you that I have no regrets buying this thing. It is FANTASTIC! It gets so much attention. Almost had a car full of people wreck because everyone in it was staring including the driver.
I don't know where some of you see these things so common, but I live in the Dallas area and I rarely see one. C7's are more common though, but still not an every drive sighting.
But, it is true. It has scared the crap out of me a couple times. I'm glad I had the experience driving my old C6 and C5Z, otherwise they'd be scraping me off a wall.
The thing is a beast and you just gotta respect it. Don't do stupid things.
I have no plans to sell until the end of my term though.

Speedforhire - what is a TR/E car?
Do people really drop 80-100K on a 650hp car casually, without realizing it's a ... 6 5 0 hp car?
I don't get the scared of car part. Driver has complete control over how much gas gets to the engine. Car is an inanimate object - it can't scare someone. But being scared of lack of self control - of not being able to exercise moderation and good judgement? Ok.

It's all relative to your driving abilities and what car you are coming from. The Z06 is still a high horsepower RWD car. If you are coming from, for example, a lesser horsepower AWD car it is an adjustment.
Personally I would tell people to take some driving lessons and get some track time with their Z06 before they sell it if they are scared of the car, they can certainly be a handful.

Just looking at Cars.com, and I see 43 used C7 Z06s within 250 miles of where I live in southwest Georgia. Most have only several thousand miles, and several have less than one thousand. That seems like a lot for such a highly prized car.
There was also five used Grand Sports with under one thousand miles, two with under ten miles between them (two and five).
It's just surprising that people will spend that kind of money for cars and then decide to sell them so soon. Don't they do any research? Are the cars that disappointing to actually own?
BTW, there were zero used 2014 C7s in the listings. That's interesting for entirely different reasons.
