Default Odd smell after driving

So our 2016 ( didn't buy it new) within the last couple of days we've noticed an almost plastic melting sort of smell, and seems to be coming the engine compartment. the car only had 2744 miles when we bought it , it now has about 11,000 . purchased in august of last year and this is the first time we've smelled this. any thoughts? ?

You probably ran over and picked up a plastic bag in the road. Happened to me. It took a surprisingly long time to burn off completely. Take a look at the exhaust pipes from engine back.

If it smells like burning plastic it probably is. The cars are so low its easy to catch a plastic bag underneath.

Never hurts to have the dealer look at it, as long as you don't taker your eyes off it.

I agree with all of the above. Marina and I had the same experience. Turns out while blowing across the desert last summer's evening, we apparently ran over a trash bag which proceeded to glue itself to hot parts under the car.

Stunk big time. LOL

Yes, I notice the same thing on my 16. I only have 400 miles and figured it is just the new car smell thing. It seems like a plastic type hot smell. Not overwhelming just noticeable. And no it is not something stuck to the exhaust (it spends time on the storage lift I I do not see anything).
I only notice it when I pull it in the garage. I am still going easy since in break in so I don't think it is do to hard driving.
Seems odd that you are just noticing it with 11k on the clock.
Would not hurt to take a look underneath it and maybe check fluid levels.
Good luck, let us know if you find anything.

From the title, I thought this would be a thread about some treacherous driving experience...

Maybe it is a black Vette thing. I like your avatar pic. Is that over in Withlacoochee or up in Ocala.
Man I miss Florida.

I have a '16 that I purchased new. At about 4,000 miles, I noticed a bad smell when I stopped at a traffic light after about 30 miles on the interstate. Dismissed it at first, but then smelled it again later that day. Same thing happened the next two times that I drove it. Burnt plastic and/or burnt coolant type smell. With the window down, smell was stronger. Also, it appeared to be closer to windshield area when I checked under the hood. Searched it on the forum and some had similar occurrence, stating it could be possible small coolant leak. I took it in for service, but of course, when I got there, I didn't notice the smell Dealership checked it out and ruled it ok. Maybe it was a plastic bag. I've driven twice since then with no issues.

I had a weird smell. I thought it could be over-filled oil since some people had that problem. Got my oil changed at about 30% life because I couldn't take it anymore. Dealer said they didn't see anything. But the smell is now gone.
