Default Smoky Vette

Picked up brand new C7 Z51 two days ago. First stoplight away from dealer - smoke, lots of it, comes out from engine bay. Temp, oil pressure all good. Pull over, pop hood, no fire. Drive another mile, pull into garage, pop hood. All looks good. Cold and rainy here. Haven't run it since. Anybody else have this experience?

Probably something spilled in the engine bay. Maybe they topped something off sloppily and it burned off on your way home.

Sounds like they overfilled the oil.

What color is the smoke? What does the "smoke" smell like?

I had that happen when an air conditioner hose came loose, but it made a loud whoosh. The sudden release of refrigerant cooled the air below the dew point, creating a cloud of fog that resembled smoke.

Does the AC still work in your car?

are you sure it wasn't steam from the hood vent? You said it was cold and rainy? I know my car appears to "smoke" after I wash it in the mornings.

1 stop light from the dealer. Why not turn around a go back to dealer???
Could be nothing or could be a big issue. I say bring it back...

Steam from the hood vent, very common after the car is washed or driven in heavy rain and has been reported many times but it is disconcerting the first time it happens to you. Enjoy your new C7 and don't worry.

Smoke was white. No problems since. Yes, just washed before I picked it up. Thanks to all for the info. All good now. Just working on that 500 miles break in so I can have some fun.
