Surprised the Vette would clear the tire rails if it is an automatic car wash the actually pushes the car down the line.

He appears to be referring to a vette and a porshe at an automatics car wash. My X5 has wider wheels than my Z51 and it clears the rails at Delta Sonic. Even though I hand wash my car I wouldn't have a problem running through a touchless delta sonic wash. I just wouldn't let the guys who do the drying touch it. They go from one car to the next using the same towels.
In fact that looks like the same Delta Sonic I use in Downers Grove, Il. with a burger king right next to it. OP?

^^^ I cringe taking the Pacifica in there let alone the Corvette! I take the G/S to Sudsational a few doors down and that even scares me sometimes.

Ah. Never had a problem with mine. Do it almost weekly. Only problem is the undercarriage spray soaks my hood liner. I've now found a hand wash service that's only a tick more money.

The tires and rim damage would scare the hell out of me. THIS is why I never take the Corvette to a rack wash

Looking at that inner city, upper Midwest scene in wintertime, makes me thankful I left all that behind, by moving to the Sunbelt 44 years ago. Other than using a self service wand type spraying car wash, I'd never use a conveyor belt type of car wash anyway.

Not all automated car washes are bad. There are automated car washes that I would feel perfectly fine taking my Vette through and have done so with no issues. I haven't found any in the Charlotte area but there was one where I came from. The Delta Sonics seem to be good at handling them as well.

Interesting comments about Delta Sonic "Touchless" car washes. We have two near my home, and I dropped by a few months ago to observe their procedures. I asked where the "touchless" wash was, because it looked to me as though there were sponges/rags being used to wash. The manager explained to me that it wasn't "touchless" (no touch), but "Touch Less". Touch less than what? Gotta love the marketing approach. LOL!

I like washing my cars, but if you don't there are washes that do a good job and don't F up your car.
I take my Focus ST to one in the Winter, but in summers it and the Corvette are washed by hand.

That vid is hilarious. The demented driver going back and forth through the wash should be exterminated from society. Its truly amazing that these people are out there.
Oh, I do my own wash/detailing.

Tire size is not an issue on a base/Z51. My rear 285s clear my local drive through wash with plenty of room. I wouldn't take a GS or a Z06 in because a 335 might not fit, but other than that, I have little patience to wash my own car. I'd rather be out driving it. Also, most of those car washes have an underbody spray, and I drive my cars year round. Better for getting the salt off.

No damage no big deal. I prefer the drive in the bay do it yourself washes but to each their own.
