Default Do we have a way to set the E-brake to automatic set when in park?

My Chrysler has the option of auto set and release of the e brake from park to drive/reverse and back again. I really like this feature but I cant seem to find any information on it for the Corvette.

No. I am sure it could be implemented but the implementation would be a little more complex due to two different transmission offerings. With the M7 not having a park position they would have to make sure any PB automation is inhibited in manual transmission cars. It really isn't that much effort to reach down from the shifter and flip the button up or down.

Nonsense. There's no need to inhibit auto parking brake in an M7. Both the M7 and A8 have a common point where it can be determined it's time to set the ebrake and implemented and that point would be precisely when the car determines to start the exit seat positioning. So, IOW, when I stop my M7, turn off the engine then open the door, because I have exit set positioning set my seat goes to the defined exit position. It is precisely at this time that the ebrake should be automatically applied, M7 or A8. If for any reason the driver wishes to not have the ebrake engaged, which I estimate would be less that 1% of the time, a simple tap on the ebrake to release it is very easy to do. (You should always automate for the most common cases).

And while tapping the ebrake on exit is easy it must be remembered. Finally I've noticed many a time where I pull up on the ebrake but it doesn't set. There seems to be some timing issue about when you pull up on the ebrake - too soon and it won't engage.

Oh and my testing has revealed that if the ebrake was not set on exit in an M7 then the auto seat recall that normally happens at startup does not happen. If you notice this you'll see the that P that appears in the DIC doesn't light indicating you failed to set the ebrake when you last exited.

Auto setting of the ebrake should be implemented IMHO. It's probably a software upgrade unless there is not the hardware to actually set the ebrake automatically. Does anybody actually know if it is doable and only a software upgrade?

The 1lt trim level doesn't have easy entry/exit settings. I have no idea how hard or easy it would be. I don't much care because flipping that switch is really easy.

OMG really? Well that sucks for the LT1 dudes. As I've said, I know there are times when I pull up on the ebrake but it doesn't set. And while pushing a button to lock and unlock the car is "really easy" I find it "really convenient" to be able have that done automatically. Ditto for flushing at public urinals...

I only ever use the eBrake if I'm sitting at a long stoplight. I have an A8 and really see no need for a "parking" brake if the tranny is already in Park.

An auto eBrake would be good for the M7 guys who park their cars in neutral.

Must we get any lazier and relying on a computer to flip a small switch

I just don't know too many people that use the parking brake on an automatic transmission vehicle too often

It's called convenience not laziness. It frees you up to deal with and concentrate on other, dare I say, more important things! Do you consciously flush the public urinal even though it has auto flush? Do you insist on opening doors that slide open open automatically? Or do you have more important things to concern yourself with? I don't know about you but appreciate every convenience that is available that takes away an otherwise trivial and meaningless obligation when, for a small price and a little effort, it can be automated.

My job in computers often consists of automating things, redundant tasks that can be better handled, more error free handled by computer processes. I don't sit around and tell my clients "man you're being lazy". No instead I realize that that increases productivity and allows humans to use their minds on more challenging and important things.

I only use it on a incline. That's to prevent torque lock.

You could also say people who use memory seats are lazy too for that matter. The automatic e brake is a wonderful safety feature.

I have always been in the habit of using brake whenever I park and the practice in my A6 is no different. I don't really need for it to set automatically, although it would be alright, but I like that it releases automatically.
