Help, it's a deal breaker, can Nav be easily added to C7?
All of my technical wizards,
I found a a leftover Z06 I would like to buy.
It does not have navigation, I am assuming that it has the antenna for on star stuff. Is there a module that I can simply add to just give me navigation interface I don't care about the PDR I just want Nav.
If not it's a huge bummer because I won't buy the car.
Thanks gentlemen,
Kevin

You might learn from this or you can continue to hold the position that you know better even when it's clear to all that you don't know better. Learn to be humble, not practice being insecure.

Honestly, if the car has Carplay or Android Auto I find the NAV on my phone much better than the Chevy native NAV.

You'd have to define easy I suppose. This company sells the module for oem nav, I don't know how easy it is to install. You can add CarPlay/Android Auto for extra:
https://www.infotainment.com/collect...-radio-upgrade
There's an aftermarket company called Navtool that makes a module that allows for smartphone mirroring. That would work too.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the feedback,
I'm using Apple CarPlay in my new truck a GM truck that has Nav now.
I want to be able to view the map as I drive around just because I think it's cool and have the navigation option as well.
The car is a 16 so I believe it comes with Apple CarPlay automatically.
I looked at the link that was sent to me and I need to look more closely because I'm not completely sure if it is the exact factory module and gives me the same exact factory look that's what I would be after.
Thank you gentlemen,
I cannot believe the wealth of knowledge that this forum is it's unbelievable.

So, IOW, an 1LT without the factory Nav does not have the required hardware (HMI unit I think) to support either CP nor AA. And IIRC the HMI unit is ~$1k anyway. However I would highly recommend getting it. Perhaps you can use that $ amount in your negotiations...

Carplay/Android Auto requires the Nav HMI unit (and a newer one at that - 2016 or better) in order to work. Yes the nav on your phone, especially Google Maps (and Waze though I find Waze childish and it's not quite yet integrated into AA but will be soon) are leaps and bounds ahead of GM factory Nav. And the real kicker is not navigation as per say - though the UI of entering an address really sucks - but rather voice recognition, which Google kicks *** on. I'm not familiar with CarPlay as I'm not an iGuy but from what I hear Siri and Apple Maps are not as good as the Google Juice...

That is really good info I just called the company by the name of infotainment or something to that effect that one of the unbelievably gracious forum members sent me.
They do in fact make a unit that goes on the a pillar on the driver side for $1000 that gives you navigation. I did ask if it was the OEM part and they said yes as I would be afraid to intreface anything non-factory into The factory electronics for fear it would void the warranty or create some other type of problem. The wiring in cars today I believe not only sends voltage back-and-forth but data packets as well.
Thank you Kevin

There is an oddity concerning Z06s and nav. You can get factory nav/pdr in a Z06 with 1LT. Can't do so in Stingray or GS. To the OP, I would confirm, if possible in person, that the car does not have nav/pdr.

You certainly seem fixated on this issue, like it's some sort of crusade. You never miss an opportunity to correct anyone who does this. You must be fun at parties. Look up "pedantry" some time and consider backing off. It really isn't necessary.

This is 100% untrue. I've owned a 2015 1LT with Nav/PDR, and my current 2017 GS 1LT with Nav/PDR. With that said, Nav/PDR are standard on a 3LT, but any dealer with half a brain orders majority of their cars with Nav/PDR.

That's a really good point, I believe they offer the heads up in the Z06's as a safety feature knowing people are likely going faster than they should. It is also is their top-of-the-line car.
There is no Nav or PDR on the window sticker it's a new car :-(
There does appear to be a module I can buy and change out that will give me Nav but not PDR for $1000.
I can't speak to the 15 but the 16 comes with the front bumper cameras and Apple CarPlay android auto.
Thank you sir for your reply,
Kevin

Meantime, also make sure, if you decide to go this route, that you get the HMI that supports AA. The original 2016's did not initially support AA and there was a free firmware upgrade that came out (in March 2016 I think) that allowed AA to start working. There was also another upgrade which gave us our 0-60 timer back. Not sure if those firmware upgrades would be offered for free to somebody who isn't an original owner.
I use AA each and every day I drive the car. In my mind it's indispensable.
See also https://productforums.google.com/for...m/android-auto for additional help on AA.
Hmmm... AA will be getting Waze soon. Will CarPlay also get Waze?

Has anyone installed this module and found it to work flawlessly?
I have a car that I might buy, because I can buy it for current market used dollars but it's a new car and they want to move it.
Thank you Kevin
