Macmulkin post today that the Z51 is its own seperate model designation! TRUTH!!!!!!!
Today as I was reading Scott Tz new thead "Base C7 question" I noticed that in post #21 at 2:04PM today that MACMULKIN CHEVROLET the 2nd biggest Corvette sales dealership in the world responded to the thread by saying the following things.
"As others have read already mentioned here a base corvette is the Stingray.
1LT,2LT and 3LT are trim packages. "
"In the past ,Z51 used to be a brake and suspension package. Starting with the C7 generation,GM made it a model designation so the models are as follows."
Stingray
Z51
Grand Sport
Z06
I KNEW OUR Z51 C7 CARS HAD ITS OWN MODEL ALL ALONG and NOW WE HAVE PROOF FROM THE 2ND LARGEST CORVETTE DEALER IN THE WORLD!!!!!!
MAYBE US Z51 OWNERS SHOULD HAVE OUR OWN C7 SECTION? LOL !!!

MacMulkin is wrong. I just posted this on the base C7 thread, but alas, here is the same subject again. Z51 is NOT A MODEL. It is a Performance Package:
Uh huh. Sure. And even on the forum no one can agree. Now we have this old argument: Is Z51 a separate MODEL or is it an option package? And everyone weighs in and says, by God, their definition is CORRECT and everyone else is WRONG! And as the above post shows (from the other thread.)
So how about let's go to the Corvette official site and take a look, hmmmm? LIke right here: http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-sports-cars.html# What you actually see is this:
Corvette Stingray
Corvette Grand Sport
Corvette Z06
Notice there is no mention of a Z51 "model." And when you click on "models" you get the same three models listed above. Now, if you click on "Corvette Stingray," voila! You get the base model, but it's not until you click on "#2 Trims" that you even see "Z51." And what does it say?
"1LT with Z51 Performance Package" and beneath that it says, "The Z51 1LT includes all the features of the 1LT plus the Z51 performance package." The listings for 2LT and 3LT mirror this language.
So here we have it directly from the horse's mouth. The Z51 is NOT A MODEL. It is a PACKAGE that you can get within the "Corvette Stingray MODEL." How can you argue otherwise when the official site says it so clearly? If Z51 were a a model,, it would be listed beneath Corvette Stingray and above Corvette Grand Sport. It wouldn't even be a "Stingray." It would be a "Z51" But it is not listed separately in the list of MODELS. Instead it is listed as a "Performance Package" as an option WITHIN the choices for building the Corvette Stingray MODEL.
What you are effectively doing here is citing someone else who makes the same mistake as "evidence." It isn't. It's just the same mistake again.

A friend told me that his brother-in-law's next door neighbor knows a guy that used to golf with a guy that went fishing once with a guy that worked at GM and he confirmed that the Z51 is it's own model. I think the GM website is wrong.

All I am saying when you order a new Corvette from a dealership like Macmulkin the 2ND largest Corvette dealership the Z51 has its own SEPERATE MODEL # something that it did not have before the C7 was introduced, when it was ordered as a opyion only code. Look at a Corvette BLack Book and you will see the separate model # for the Z51for the C7 compared to just a option # code for the C6,C5,C4 and before.
They're not. They're different models.

So the Corvette Web site is wrong? Funny that. You're citing someone who makes the same mistake as evidence. I don't care how big MacMulkin is. They just screwed up. LOOK AT THE WEB SITE. That's where the truth is. Chevy says so. It's a done deal. Z51 is a "Performance Package." Z51 is NOT listed as a separate model.

In the C6, the z51 was an option, no debate everybody knew it. Now for the C7 GM decided that to sell more cars they're going to make the z51 appear as though it may be its own model. That's the part that bothers me.
It's BS. I don't buy it and there's about 50% of
us that don't buy it and never will. The debate will rage on with there never being a consensus.
