Default Made my Grandson's day!

My now 20 year old Grandson has been begging to drive my '15 C7 since I brought the car home from the Museum Delivery Dec. 24th, 2014. Like many of you out there I've been reluctant to let a teenager drive my car even with me beside him. Like, what can you do if he goes wild while you're stuck in the passenger's seat, right? Anyway, I had the opportunity to have a little fun. While visiting yesterday I asked if he wanted to drive my Corvette and he replied an excited yes so I produced the Corvette. A radio controlled model!

He took it well. As a background to the story Nathan is about to embark on a life changing journey. He's enlisting in the Air Force and Tuesday is his swearing in and departure for San Antonio. So I told him, after having fun with the toy car, "If you're man enough to volunteer for the military to serve America then you're man enough to drive America's favorite sports car. Lets go." He was ecstatic! Here we are documenting the event.

As we drove off he asked "Where are we going?" I said "Where ever you want to go, you're driving. A parade lap around the neighborhood isn't any fun." So we drove all around Maryville, TN for about an hour while he cautiously checked out the throttle, paddle shifters, enjoyed the open NPP pipes, and all the looks he got behind the wheel. I don't think his feet have touched the ground yet.

You should be proud of him. He looks like a fine young American! Glad you gave him the opportunity. Hopefully he will own a C? someday.

Good deal. He should enjoy the USAF. But next time try not to wait so long I taught my son how to drive a stick on my 2001 Corvette when he was 15.

Well done sir. Your grandson will forever keep those memories. Good luck to his new journey in the USAF and serving/protecting this great country of ours. From a 6 year Navy veteran, God's speed.

I'll always remember my first time behind the wheel of a Corvette - a '70 350 stick coupe. It's something you never forget. You did good, Grampa! Fine young man you've got there.

Something my elders never did for me and I always remembered that. So when I purchased my first corvette I let my oldest drive it with me on board. Targa removed. Memor the kid will have forever.

my youngest needs a couple years on the drivers license before we go down that road lol.

Great story and great gift to your grandson. Making Corvette lovers from an early age is awesome, and memories for both of you is priceless.

I lived in Maryville twice (early '60's and mid '90's), and really love it there.

Congrats to your Grandson. Tell him to enjoy Lackland but behave himself on his first Liberty to the Riverwalk. I spent almost 10 years in San Antonio at Ft. Sam Houston. You can eat Mexican food at a different restaurant for a year and not eat at the same restaurant. Great city!
