Default V4

I have a question. My 2017 Grand Sport which has only 200 miles it goes into green V4 when in Track, Sport, and Tour mode . I don't think that is right unless that has something break in?

if you have an A8 the only way to prevent V4 mode is go into manual mode and use the paddle shifter

or get a Range AFM disabler

Should you desire to bypass the V-4 mode, consider a Range AFM (active fuel mgt) disabler. I would order a OBDII extension with switch to connect it with. Plugs into your OBDII port and prevents the engine from deactivating cylinders. I installed one and my car stays in V-8 mode all of the time. Bought them on Amazon. Range Technology AFM disable device $189. Cable $10.

I've read on here you should avoid eco mode during the 500 mile break in. I dunno though, I have a manual.

vbdenny, how's your Range gadget working?
I bought one and so far it's fine, but I know some folks have had problems
My car is new and the more I drive it the more I like the paddle shifters

The Range does draw power from the battery when not running, so it could make a difference whether you decide to use a tender if not driving the car for awhile, or if you need to unplug the device.

I just drive it in M 100% of the time. I have all the fun of the manual, without any of the tiring left leg problems (especially in traffic).

I'm still not sure about how the wear on the engine is going to play out over next several years as the car ages, and I, given that I will probably be one of the first to have high-milage issues, don't want to be GM's guinea pig on this particular issue.

The Range gadget works great. Not one single issue with it and it keeps the engine in V-8 mode all the time. I liked the paddle shifters but after time found the computer much better at shifting.

With a manual the only time your engine will go into 4 cyl. operation is when you select econo on the mode selector. I never select it, well I accidently did once, I switched it off immediately.

It can be tuned out with a Diablosport tuner. No battery drain like the Range unit.

This way may void your warranty if GM should find out.

Simply drive the vehicle 100% of the time in the manual paddle shift mode and it will never go into the V4 mode.
