How many have their certificate of origin
I hadn't seen one of these before, I'm guessing a few of you out there have it but I thought it was another nice document to have for my document collection. Was curious as to how common they are to have...I won't have it for long, but I have a good scan of it.
It's sort of a pre-title document that goes to the state and they issue the state title / pink slip.

My 2016 Z06 was a museum delivery car ordered through MacMulkin so I had to take the paperwork to the local DMV office after the drive home. I had all of the forms filled out and printed via the online portal so I was expecting a fairly painless DMV visit; I should have known better. The DMV agent used my forms to fill out the exact same form in the office via very slow one finger typing and I sort of waved goodbye to that pretty little CoO as he took it. Shortly after I got home the DMV called because they couldn't find my CoO and thought it had been given back to me. I knew that wasn't the case and suggested they conduct a more thorough search and one of the other agents found it on the floor.
The buying experience through MacMulkin and the NCM was exceptional so that offset the pain of dealing with the DMV. As Meatloaf says, two out of three ain't bad

Yea, that's similar to how I have mine. Out of state delivery and I have to take it to the local DMV. Just one of those docs that disappears and is kind of cool to have :-)

DMV's require them to register the cars. It proof that the car was manufactured by GM. I have a digital scan and picture of mine. The dealer did them for me, I ask for them, it was shipped off to Ohio's DMV.

I have it for several of my previous vettes. You have to ask the salesman to get a copy for you or actually copy it (photo) of it before you hand it over to DMV. Once they have it is gone forever.

Yup, the DMV takes them in return for the title. My guy's eyes lit up when he saw it and after he was done fleecing me he invited me to the 4th of July car show for the town. I made a color copy of the certificate, but, of course, the original was 'cooler' in every way.

I have a "copy" of my C6 COO. When I got the original I thought I should make a copy for myself but I wasn't thinking about security paper. After I ran the original through the copier, the photo reactive paper showed all of those "VOID"s. DOH! I sheepishly took it to the courtesy delivery dealer when I picked up the car and they were doing the DMV paperwork. When I handed it to the guy I expected to have it thrown back at me with a stern "this is void, we can't submit it". But that didn't happen, he didn't pay any attention to it. I'm so happy to know that security technology is so effective.

Never, here. The States where I've first registered my vehicles in after buying them, have always kept the MSO from then on. However, there's nothing wrong with your making a photocopy of your car's MSO. Might be kind of fun looking at it years off in the future for you.

Comparing the one posted to one for a 2015 coupe I see similarities and a few minor differences in GVWR and Shipping Weight.
The nondescript "RBLPD019" is common to both, as is the 52.7 SAE net horsepower!

Q: So, what becomes of the MSOs we relinquish to our States when titling and licensing them?

I do.

In the past in Virginia you could request a copy of the CoO from DMV as well as other documents of the car. The fee was $16.00. I also did this for a Mustang that I bought from the original owner in Kentucky.

When I bought my new ATV last year I got the MSO which I still have.
I only ride it on my own property and therefore never registered it with DMV. (who would keep it) When and If I get rid of it the MSO will be transferred to the new owner.

When you get a new vehicle and pay cash for it, you own it free and clear as with the OP's new C7 he won. You'll get the MSO every time on it. When you finance it, the finance company gets it. That's why many of you are not seeing it, I believe.
My Q was what becomes of the MSO the State takes in exchange for a State issued title of ownership?

I guess I'm old school. I knew it as an MSO also. Not a big deal. Even your wife's SUV came with one when new. The only reason you might want one is if you intend to keep the car as new so you could someday sell it as "never registered or titled". Good luck with that investment. I'll stick with real estate, stocks and bonds.
Most don't see them unless they buy from out of state, pay cash and handle the paperwork ourselves. I used to buy cars for my company and use them in other states for our field reps. We always bought them locally and requested an out the door price with MSO. Every once in a while you'd find a salesman that said WAT?
