Default Left lane woes

Sigh

So I'm on I-20 just west of ATL heading home. Cruise set at 80..left lane. Not that much faster than everyone else. I'm coming up on a small white SUV. Plenty of room for the SUV to move over. Gave a couple of headlight flashes (daytime) and tapped the break. She moved over. I raised my hand off the wheel to wave 'thank you'.

I got the finger as I passed. Really?!

SMH. I wasn't being a jerk. Didn't ride her a$$. Gave her time to change lanes before I flashed her. I guess she took it personally.

I know many of us are quite capable of driving fast safely, but how does any guy in front of you know that? Speeding is for the track. I track my cars. But on the highway I follow the rules. Those who think they can flash people out of their way and yap on their phones, etc. do NOT have my blessing. The majority of them are dangerously immature.

So, if you see a white C7 in front of you - driving under the posted speed limit - flash me ONCE and I will dive for the right lane. But if I am at or near the posted speed limit - and you signal me to move so you can speed up and endanger my family and others who use that road? You have a fight on your hands.
Above poster is the real danger. It's people like this poster that cause wrecks. Leave law enforcement to law enforcement, by cruising in the passing lane you're creating a worse and unsafe and dangerous situation for everyone around you.

Now that is a lady with no class. A finger to the wrong guy could lead to a bit of unwanted road rage.

Don't know the timing of the 'wave' and the 'finger' but, perhaps she thought your wave was a negative jester and returned the favor.

I've seen it for a lot less.

I do really love being made the bad guy when the other person is in the wrong like her. I just keep my calm, laugh, and move on down the road. As I always conceal carry I don't need to be the aggressor. I've been in enough jails to know I don't want to live there.

Headlight flashes really annoy Left Lane Bandits a lot for some reason. You oughta see Delaware, man oh man.

Some people play citizen patrol on the highway. It seems that if they are in the left lane cruising along they own it and no one should need to go faster than they are whether speeding or not. I've had people refuse to move over after several flashes. One guy finally moved over and when I passed him he moves back into the left lane, crawled up on my bumper, continually flashed and honked his horn. I had to nail it to get away, fortunately, his F-150 couldn't keep up.

The left lane is the passing lane not the fast lane. When I see a left lane rider coming I try to give 'em some right lane time. Down here you can make better time in the right lane because of all the left lane morons.

Not sure if this was the reason, but a lot of folks got out of the way of my previous ride!

It is the law in most states that you are supposed to move to the right for faster traffic to pass -- but it's almost never enforced.

Here in VA, the highways are peppered with "Slower Traffic Keep Right" signs, but most folks honestly never consider themselves to be slower traffic. They just think everyone else drives too fast.

Simple rule of thumb: If you are being passed on the right, then you are driving in the wrong lane.

New corvette owner was driving down two lane road doing speed limit (needed to turn left shortly) when I was passed in the right lane by a fat chic on a pink scooter and flipped off.

Driving the autobahn is such a pleasure when the 2 or 3 left lanes will all move over for faster vehicles.......

One of my wife's girlfriends always drives in the left lane because her daddy said it was safer there?

My 3 years in Germany was driving Nirvana. Driving in the left lane while not overtaking is strictly verboten. The Germans do enforce the law.

I like to refer to them as left lane zombies...they just cruise along at the same speed as the cars to the right of them holding up traffic and have no clue that they are being idiots. Wish LEOs would start writing some tickets for it. They'd bring in all kinds of revenue, if the would...

I've been driving over 40 years and I have to admit I've never flashed anyone to pass.

It just always seemed like the perfect way to get the reaction you got.
