And the plant is closing this summer because they have a new paint facility coming online. LOL, not because they are offering a Corvette SUV.

"In honor of jpee"
It's not bad looking but the interior pic seems to show a manual trans while the specs list only two different automatics. Still, there is hope....

Race Director
Porsche, jaguar, Maserati, Alfa, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley,
Who did we leave out? Basically Ferrari...maybe cash strapped Aston Martin....
The sport car four door cuv is going to be the wave of the future halo vehicle in America if not the world..
Fast, bold, somewhat sleek, go anywhere statement is what's hot...
Never going to happen for corvette but it would be a hot seller for GM...
Didn't seem to hurt the Porsche, or jaguar brand..just made a lot more money for them...
A Porsche Macan competitor labeled a corvette would be pretty intense...
I wouldn't buy one for myself.....but I'm not a fan of cuv s in general...but if my wife wanted one...I'd have bought it for her in a heartbeat...
That's pretty much how Porsche saved itself with the cayanne and now the Macan...911,boxster and cayman sales are boutique items and low volume...even the panamera is lower in volume than the brands cuv s...
GMC and Cadillac would probably have a fit...
Of course pundits said the same thing about jaguar getting a cuv while it's sister brand Land Rover was supposed to be the cuv company of the duo..
I don't think after the f pace release...that Land Rover has been hurt and jaguar brand has been saved...
Nobody wants sedans any more...people want cuv s...
Sexy four door cuv s...that are fast and handle well are what consumers want...
Some don't even care about a lot of space...i.e. Porsche Macan is tiny inside and it's porsches best selling model...ranging from 50 grand to 95 grand depending on which turbo v6 350 or 400 hp and of course a long list of expensive options...
Corvette team could do worse...

I agree, and don't want one either, but that's what most people want. Given that, it's business suicide to not ride that wave while it lasts.
I had just purchased a first MY Jaguar F-Type about the time the F-Pace was announced. Most everyone one on the Jaguar Forum called it "blasphemy," and now they can't keep them on the lots. The F-Pace has indeed bailed Jaguar out.
It's ironic that the parent company (Jaguar Land Rover) of the most prestigious, off-road vehicle manufacturer on the planet made the decision to produce a Jaguar "competitor" to Land Rover. It was a smart decision, and sales are up at both Jaguar and Land Rover.
