Buying experts please chime in
I am kinda in the market for a c7 stingray and I was wondering is their a best time of month or year to purchase a current year car from the big dealer? I know it makes no difference to mom and pop lots or private sellers. Love to hear from prior car salesman.

I'm no expert I can assure you. But, with the discounts be offered by out forum members, Kerbeck, Coughlin, Criswell, MacMulkin, you will be hard pressed to do any better. For ex: if I would have waited one year I could buy a '17 2LT A8 Grand Sport Convertible for $1,000 more than my '16 base A8 1LT Corvette Convertible. So IMHO don't wait, if your budget allows but one now. Summers coming.

Likewise, I'd look toward the Big Box Corvette Stores. You missed end of year so end of month tends to be your next bet. I'd also suggest you search all dealer inventories and look for the lowest '17 VIN# that meets your criteria as their carrying costs mount up. But with Spring around the corner dealers anticipate increased demand thus may hold older inventory a bit longer. Later toward the end of Summer demand will switch to the new '18 model year with 'new goodies' offered with the price cycle starting all again. Then think left over!

If you want the best deal, go to one of the forum dealers previously mentioned. That is all you need to know-sooner rather than later when the weather gets nice and demand rises and stock depletes.
The deadline for ordering a 2017 is sometime in April or you can wait til the 2018 changes are announced in April to see if you want a 2018 which you will pay a higher price for at least initially.

I'll answer the q. this way: if you have been reading this site in particular for the last couple mos., you will know about a) the forum dealers on here that give great discounts, and more than other non-dealers typically do at any time during the rest of the year; and b) you will also know a key fact that the Plant is closing for 3 or more months and that inventories are being stockpiled now so dealers will have supply on hand for when they can't order cars.
With that said, prices are slightly lower than say, 6 mos, or a a year ago, but may very well stabilize at this price for 6 mos. or more, or even possibly go higher for the same time period. It depends on too many things to list. But most are correct when they say time of year is obvious for a "sports car."
Now you either need to do some reading up to flesh out what I wrote above, or some deciding as to when and with whom you buy your car from, and in that case, sooner is probably better as supply will become static (read: not increasing for the several months cited).

Best time is always when the newer model year is available and dealers/GM have deep discounts on the previous version.
There are still brand new 2016's available and 2018's are around the corner. 2017's are about 15% off new base models right now and I would expect to get 20-25% or so off a brand new 2016. 2018's are supposed so start being built in June so you might find some 20%+ off deals on 2017's starting around August or so. Maybe sooner.
Flip side is you will miss some of the peak Corvette ownership months.

If you are close.....
....now is the time for two reasons:
a. many new '17's, even some'16's at some superb discounts
b. with interest rates beginning to climb (if you need to finance) rates
are going up measurably and will have an effect on car prices
enjoy

It's true there are 2016's out there with big discounts. And the general reason is because those cars are not in colors or options that most people want. Same will go with leftover 2017's when the 18's come out. Some buyers are more concerned with getting a great deal than getting the color and options they really want.
Just don't be mislead by huge discounts thinking you can flip the car in a year or two for a profit. Because unless you meet the dumbest buyer in the world it ain't gonna happen.
