ZR1 or Grand Sport
Hey guys, I'm kinda torn between these two vehicles. Currently I have a 2009 zr1 24,000 miles. It's completely stock. The c7 grand sport has really began to grow on me. I have the opportunity to get a 2017 admiral blue 2lt nicely loaded with competition seats, and PDR. Honest answers, what car would you choose?

I'd chose the ZR1. The GS is great and the C7 all-in-all is a great car; I really like mine, BUT a couple things come to mind:
1. The new GS will not have nearly the power you are used to in your ZR1
2. If you want a C7 I'd wait till the C7 ZR1 either comes out or not then decide, or think about a C7 Z06 or a Callaway Z06 -- your current ZR1 performance wise is going to be very hard to match.

Have you driven the C7 GS? So much of this is personal preference. No doubt the ZR1 is more powerful but the C7 is a very different car with a much better interior and new technology.
Do you find yourself using the ZR1 power? Just being honest but many people are not tracking their cars and it can be very hard to even exercise the power you do have.

I would hang on to that beautiful ZR1 you have.

I think that will be my next move to test drive a c7z. Every car website or independent reviewer has marveled about the GS. It's been touted as the Vette you want as opposed to any other

A friend of mine had a '12 C6 ZR1 and traded it for a new '15 C7 Z06. According to him, the C7 Z06 is a better car. Also claims that the C7 Z accelerates better. If it was a matter of the ZR1 or new Grand Sport I would stick with the ZR1. I think the Z06 would be the logical move!

I still have my ZR1 and I have a C7 Z06. I think you should do yourself a favor and go test drive a C7 Z06. They are fab machines. And I think you'll be let down a bit by the power diff b/n your ZR and the GS, given you're used to the ZR.

My $0.02 is that you should move up to the C7, as it's superior in many ways to the C6. That's not just my opinion, as many have stated the same thing. But, it is still JUST opinion! Sure, there are measurables to back it up, but when it comes to Corvettes, so much of the decision about which one you prefer is entirely subjective. Also if you like the C6, you've got the C6 to keep.
Performance-wise, the C7 Grand Sport (w/ the Z07 package) had only a one second slower lap time than the C6 ZR1 at the Milford Proving Ground. So if you track your car, the C7 GS may be the way to go (particularly given the C7 Z06's heat soak issues at the track... ahem...)
In terms of raw power on the street, or 1/4 mile times, the C7 Z06 would be what I'd suggest to replace your C6 ZR1. It sounds better, too.
I think this is one of those decisions that cannot go south on you, no matter what!

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the really good feedback and honest opinions. From what I see, lots of love is shown to the C7z. I'm gonna head to the dealership on Monday.

down the road
the ZR1 will hold whatever value it has better than the C7 Z06 but if that's not part of the equation, make the switch to the C7.....I had a '12 loaded GS Conv. (granted, a different car) which I thought I would keep forever but after driving a C7, not even a Z06 or GS it was such an improvement, well, end of story for me
but isn't it nice to have such first world decisions?

I would have a hard time letting that ZR1 go.

No way I'd trade that for a GS.
It would have to be the Z06, or wait for C7 ZR1.

C7... Completely different car like you said.
You could easily modify a C7 Grand Sport to makeup for the horsepower difference, if desired, and then you have the best of both worlds.
