Launch Control

Launch Control
I have a newbish question for you all.
How do you engage the launch control? The corvette manual confuses me on the subject.
I have a manual Z51 without the magnet ride. I tried putting the car in track mode and hit the stability/traction control button but could not figure out how to engage the launch control.

Same here. I think it is only on the MRC cars.

Race Director
I believe the manuals without MRC also have launch control.
The owners manual should have your answer.

Exactly, tried the put in track mode, hit switch twice. Nothing happens. Doesn't goto a PTM menu, nothing.

Put car in track mode
Press traction control button twice, relatively fast
Push brake as far down as you can
Push gas pedal to the floor, all the way and quickly or it won't work
Rpm's should hold just under 2000 and when ready just release brake while keeping it floored
This is how it's done on an auto. I believe the only difference on a manual is that you release the clutch to go after the steps are followed.
This works with and without magnetic ride and Z51 is not needed
Search my posts and you will see that I posted a video of it from inside the car

Shouldn't I see something in the cluster indicating that launch control is ready? I would hate to do all the things you mentioned only to get to the foot on pedal all the way and red line it.

Don't have to worry about that. It has been years since anybody was able to red line any stock car. All of them have a rev limiter which will keep you from damaging the engine if you don't engage the launch control feature correctly. Floor it and release the clutch and hang on.

This is what the manual says, it's just not very easy to understand.
Launch Control (Track
Mode Only)
A Launch Control feature is
available, within Competitive Driving
Mode (except Z51 with Magnetic
Selective Ride Control) or
Performance Traction Management
(Z51 with Magnetic Selective Ride
Control), on all vehicles to allow the
driver to achieve high levels of
vehicle acceleration in a straight
line. Launch Control is a form of
traction control that manages tire
spin while launching the vehicle.
This feature is intended for use
during closed course race events
where consistent zero to
60 and quarter mile times are
desirable.
Launch Control is only available
when the following criteria are met:
. Competitive Driving Mode is
selected (except Z51 with
Magnetic Selective Ride Control)
or any of the Performance
Traction Management modes
are selected (Z51 with Magnetic
Selective Ride Control). The
TCS light comes on the
instrument panel and the
appropriate DIC message
displays.
. The vehicle is not moving.
. The steering wheel is pointing
straight.
Manual Transmissions
. The clutch is pressed and the
vehicle is in 1 (First) gear.
. The accelerator pedal is rapidly
applied to wide open throttle.
The Launch Control feature will
initially limit engine speed as the
driver rapidly applies the accelerator
pedal to wide open throttle. Allow
the engine rpm to stabilize.
A smooth, quick release of the
clutch, while maintaining the fully
pressed accelerator pedal, will
manage wheel slip. Complete shifts
as described in Manual
Transmission on page 9-30.

Follow GatMix's steps while meeting the criteria and you should be good to go.

I have a z51, m7, non mag.
Track mode, two quick taps of traction so it says that tract is off but stabilitrak is on.
Hold in the clutch and PUT IT INTO FIRST GEAR, and then gas all the way, cant do it slowly otherwise it wont hold. Cant do it with the shifter in neutral otherwise it will just hold redline as well. Its rather simple really.
Again, z51, non mag, m7.
Track mode.
Two quick taps of traction button in center, turns off traction, get a stabilitrak on notification.
Clutch in, shifter in 1st gear.
Hit gas quickly, dont bring up revs slow.
It should hold at like 3800-5000rpm apparently based on weather and tire temps apparently.

Yes i have also tried it. Track mode 2 taps of traction button with wheel straight and rapid full throttle. Then let it fly while keeping pedal to the floor. Has anyone noticed that the competition mode lets the car get farther out of shape ove past years c6 and c5.
Z51 M7 non mag.

Will "No Lift Shift" work while in Launch control?
#14
I have 1lt a non z51 manual NPP this is lightest and fastest c7
track mode
push traction control button twice
both the TC and AH lights come on
"competition mode is displayed on dash"
hold wheel straight
press accelerator to floor rpm holds at 2-3k depending on conditions
lift clutch
you will hear the engine disrupt spark and the rear brakes will apply to prevent wheel slip.
You have to lift throttle between shifts but it will not let you over rev.
my 0-60 times are faster in track mode with just traction control off
Just to clear things up from track mode 2 quick TC presses puts the car in competition mode this disables traction control and puts active handling into loose mode but it is still there for you get sideways too much it will kick in.
if you press and hold the TC button you do not see competition mode displayed but TC and AH lights come on this is the all off mode NO traction control and NO active handling (IE: you can get in trouble here if you are not paying attention)

I have a m7 with mag suspension and I don't see what you guys are seeing. When I press the button twice I get a choice of 5 performance traction selections: wet, dry, sport 1, sport2 and race. Is this launch control available on z51 with mag suspension?

Once you enter one of the performance settings you are in "launch control"

Launch control is basically a function of the electronic brake control module and the ECM. Ride control wouldn't be figured into the equation. EBCM monitors wheel rear wheel speeds, tells ECM how much to modulate torque and the EBCM may throw some rear brake application to control excessive spin if torque modulation and the posi unit don't control it sufficiently.

Really? Interesting, I'll have to try it. Now, this might be a dumb question but how do I know if I have selected the highlighted selection whether it be sport1, sport2 or race? I don't get any confirmation of my selection? Do I just scroll over my desired selection and that's it or do I have to press another button or something? Thx for your advise.
