Why are my times so bad?
12.67 ET / 114.47 MPH
Last week at Memphis International Speedway while on the Hot Rod Power Tour.
A8 non Z51/Z06 with zero mods
Stock tires with stock 30 psi
Used Track Mode with Launch Control
800 miles and 90+ temp
Made 4 runs-12.67,12.67, 12.723 & 12.914. Very consistent but slow compared to the cars on the stock tire no mods list.
Any suggestions?

Do not use traction control or launch control. I don't use stabilitrack either but most don't recommend turning that off if you are a novice. I have had it intervene on a drag strip even though it's not supposed to.
Put the car in track or sport mode and turn traction control off and do not put it in one of the performance traction modes (if equipped).
Do a burnout until you see some white smoke, these tires actually like heat.
Stage the car as shallow as you can (barely turn on the second set of amber bulbs) hold the brake firmly and press the gas until the tach is about 1500 rpm. Forget about your reaction time it doesn't factor into your ET. Release brake while pushing gas to the floor. Drive straight.
If it spins lower the rpm, if it doesn't raise the rpm.
Some tracks are slower than others. I can only run 117 mph at my local track but I went 119 at a different track. You will never match the times on that list in 90 degree air, you'll have to wait for the fall if you want that "best pass", you'll need air in the low 50's or cooler.
Maximizing a cars capability on a drag strip is hard and takes a lot of practice and a little luck.

Drifting
I did my first track day yesterday ever down at PBIR with my car club. It was in the low 90's during the day.
on my 2nd run ever I ran a 10.4 at 135mph. My car is a 7 speed manual. My only problem is grip. I'm just under 900 HP and was running on Toyo 888's, so my starts were a slow roll on start to try to get past 1st gear before I could really get on the gas, because I would spin. I will post up a few videos when I get a chance.
I had a fun time and plan on getting some drag radials for the track, as with a proper grip and launch I think I could hit low 9's. I just have to make sure the rear can handle the traction.
I realized after a few runs that I was not even full throttle, as my foot was not all of the way down, it was a newb mistake. Unfortunately after the 3rd run my car started to sputter a little above 4k rpm and performance really dropped off. I was envious all day of the cars with launch control. Every car I was up against, no matter what, got quite the jump on me because I really had to roll out off the start. But once I was able to get going the car hauled the mail!

yeah need to work on the 60ft..
some tracks its hard to get a good one as they dont prep good.. mine one of those usually plus the da almost always 2000ft never under 1000
on manual launch control either bogs or spins too much so i dont like it.. not sure if auto the same..
just work on launch rpm.. release brake fast but you might have to roll a lil slower on gas depending on traction..
have fun

PS: I saw a stick 800+ rwhp mustang pick up a half second on the very next pass starting in second gear. He had traction problems too even with slicks. He launched the car at a rpm that did not bog or spin, its better to have a slight spin than bog.
