Default NEP light weight Axle Back exhaust system now available! Pictures inside!

New Era Performance Aluminum Race Axle-Back Exhaust for 2014+ C7 Stingray Corvette! As posted at an earlier date, we began working on a lightweight racing aluminum axle-back system for our shop C7 test vehicle. We are happy to announce that the system has been tested and optimized for production and is now available for resale. Why aluminum? Aluminum is much lighter than stainless steel. This system weighs in at a total of 14.5 lbs (1.5 lbs heavier than our prototype system because of the added structure supports everywhere), 30 lbs lighter than the factory base exhaust, 36 lbs lighter than the factory dual mode exhaust. Aluminum is less expensive than titanium, allowing us to make this light-weight exhaust more affordable than even most stainless systems. Our exhaust system features a “straight through” design. Straight through mufflers, elimination of the restrictive AFM exhaust valves as well as smooth transitions from the 2.75” stock H-pipe to the 3” mufflers helped to yield a 5rwhp/7rwtq gain in our completely stock (just tuned) base C7 over the factory exhaust system (se dyno graph below). Larger gains over the stock system can be expected with cam’d or forced induction cars as well. This exhaust system has a deep throaty sound and does have some interior drone from inside the cabin at select rpms and throttle states. One of the common problems with aluminum exhaust systems is strength and reliability. We wanted to create a racing exhaust system that would help reduce weight and gain power, but allow for frequent street use. Using experience gained from the use of our own aluminum axle back system in our 2010 Camaro SS, we were able to optimize common weakness areas to improve reliability and longevity. Our 2010 Camaro SS has had our aluminum exhaust on it for 4 years now and has endured punishing regular daily driving through four seasons as well as weekly racing throughout the summer. The only areas that we observed breakage have been addressed and strengthened on the C7 system.

Strength and reliability optimizations include the following:

-Additional material bracing around all butt-weld joints -Bracing to support exhaust tips in relationship to the muffler

-No butt-welds on hangers, hangers bent to form around mufflers on each side for additional support and strength Our quad-tip exit exhaust system is truly unique!

Our 3 3/4” OD polished exhaust tips are CNC precision machined from 6061 billet aluminum in-house. These tips are our own design, and will give a unique look to the rear-end of your C7 not available on any other exhaust system! Extra care has been taken in the design of the system as well as the design of the production process to ensure perfect tip alignment on every set. This system is constructed from 1.5mm wall T6061 Mandrel bent aluminum tubing and is tig-welded in-house. 100% designed, tested and manufactured in the USA.

Picture of the finished product system not installed, the blue tape is on the tips in an effort to prevent scratches.

Some close up shots so you can see all of the added structure supports.

Dyno graph, we tested the system on our already tuned C7, so you can see stock, after it was tuned, and then the exhaust system installed.

I hope you guys like this product and can appreciate the amount of time we spent on this, I know I do! This system is going to retail for $1399, but we are going to do an introductory sale on it until the end of the year for $1249, you can order it directly from our website here:

Or you can also call us at the shop to order over the phone as well 585-865-1832. Thanks!

Some of the welds don't look so good but I like the weight savings! Since the exhaust is aluminum, what is your warranty on these for cracks or thermal fatigue?

Also I have long tube headers on my car, will these work with ARH/etc?

Do you have a mid-pipe to go along with the exhaust system?

And if the AFR butterfly valves are removed and disconnected, won't that cause a check engine light?

Looking forward to more videos!

There is a one year warranty against our workmanship. Yes, this will work with ARH/Etc. No mid-pipes in the works as of right now. The AFM valve motors remain plugged in and secured away from the exhaust, and there is no check engine light because there is nothing measurable based on what these valves are doing (scary right?).

Here is an in cabin video with the windows up. Unfortunately its not the best sound quality because I can not do something on the road due to the weather we have here currently at this time of the year. So the best I could do right now anyway is get a video on the dyno, which has its own enclosed room so there is some noise reflection in the video. The video is start up, part throttle driving, then a short cruise at about 70 mph in 5th gear, then decel to 30 and then a 4th gear WOT dyno pull from about 40 mph to about 150 mph. Hope you guys like it!

Great weight loss.

Are those tips smaller than the factory tips?

Looks by your phone number you are in Rochester. Do you have any plans to do a primary cat delete pipe? The reason I ask is because from what I can tell from pics is that pipe is flanged after the manifolds and at the other end leading to the rest of the exhaust. I feel like that may be an affordable way to pick up some power and sound while keeping the factory manifolds, and would also reduce heat under the hood/ in the cabin. Maybe do a low temp coating on that pipe as well. Wouldn't have the gains as full headers but I feel like those cats from the factory are probably 400 cel and the deletion is responsible for the majority of gains on cars with headers.

Thanks
