I don't understand spending $60K+ on a car and trying to save an extra $2K by buying Chinese cast wheels, when they are going to be used while the car sees the highest loads it will ever experience. Why risk damage to your car and damage to yourself?
It's like tools, save up and buy quality.

The C5Z06 wheels I bought for my Z51 are made by Speedline, and made in Italy, with a GM embossed label on them.

The OEM wheels on my $60k 2014 Z51 are made in China, as are the OEM wheels on every other Z51. GM must have decided the made in China wheels were good enough. If you own a 2014 Z51, take a wheel off and have a look yourself.

What was the outcome. I like the nt01 on c5z idea. I'm running ~9 autox events and damn near 14 hpde's this season. I'm gunna munch on some tires, and I want a dedicated set for the track (doesnt have to be slicks, preferred if they werent).

My stockers have long been shot, sitting on them instead of the cheap hankooks I bought to put on in the spring just to have rolling stock on the street.

I run with savage, the c5z wheels did poke out and looked goofy.

Can you give more details on the setup you are using? Wheel offset? Tire sidewall measurements?

Any chance you have pictures?

Maybe the best solution is just an extra set of OEM rims and spend a little more on rubber.
20" race rubber isn't easy to come by though...

I just bought some c7 oem 18/19 combo on eBay for my track stuff. I got a really good deal on them so that is why I went that route. However the are about 5-6 lbs heavier then my old c5 z06 wheels. That to me is a big difference in weight (30 lbs all around).

Someone else here mentioned the c5 z06 wheels fit on the c7...is that correct? Not problems clearing calipers?

I just checked my buddies brand new 2015 Z06 wheels from the factory, and low-and-behold, they are made in China, just like my brand new OEM Z51 wheels. Haven't heard of a single failure from any source whatsoever.

No one is risking anything with those GM wheels made in China. Even on a $100k car with 650 HP.

I have 4 C5Z06 18" rear wheels and they clear the Z51 calipers easily. As a matter of fact, we just fitted them on my buddies 2015 Z06 with steel calipers and they clear those calipers too, front and rear. Wheel weights need to be on the outside rim, and might need a 2mm spacer on the front wheels to get wheel spokes about 3 mm away from side of caliper. I have 18" Enkei wheels on my GT-R and those brakes are bigger in diameter than the Z06 steel rotors (380 mm versus 370 mm for Z06) and they have a similar Brembo 6 piston caliper.

I just got through with 2 different sessions with my C5 Z06 wheels on my Z51 and performed flawlessly. I bought Pirelli Zeros to run on them- had C7 TPMS installed. You will rub a bit in front on the inside brake duct if you go lock to lock.

Looking into the same set up C5Z06 for track wheels. My wife will also track the C7Z51 and will need the nanny's on. Do you need to turn off the traction/ESC control with 18/Zo6 C5 wheels F/R?

Thanks

I was running in track 2 most of the day. Tried track 1 just for the hell of it-too much interference from the e-diff. I will never go 100% nannies off. I like my car too much.

Anyone have the GM numbers for the rear brake ducts?

I just got my track tires.

I run the Interlagos TSW 18 Front/19 Back

They clear Z51 brakes and they also clear the new Wilwoods.

I was using slicks but just changed to R888's

275/35/18 Front
296/30/19 Rear

The tires showed up today and they are huge, glad I didn't go 305 on the rears.

The PSS are good but the Wilwoods overwhelmed the tires. They need more tire now.

I am looking for square 18" setup. Do you recommend the 18" ×10.5 C5 Z06 rear wheels to be used front and back on C7 Z51? Any interference issues and if so can that be overcome with spacers? Would this create any issues with car electronics (TC, MSRC,...)? It would be nice to get a low cost setup for the track.

Here are VatorMan's pictures from another post so you can see how the C5Z06 wheels fit on the C7 Z51. Using Pirelli 305/645-18" slicks on the front and 315/675-18" slicks at the rear. I have fit Nitto NT-01 315/30/18" on all four corners on the same wheels.
